I meant to start this thread sooner but life got in the way. But without further ado, let's talk "Hell Hath No Fury."
Summary: Castle and Beckett investigate the death of a city councilman; Beckett tries to throw Castle off his game during one of his book readings.
Director: Rob Bowman Writer: David Grae
-Supposedly this is the first episode to feature Castle and Beckett's "shared brain" - when they reach a conclusion together and say it out loud simultaneously.
-I think this is the first time Beckett tells Castle that him watching her do paperwork is creepy:
Kate Beckett: Don't you have a book coming out today or something?
Richard Castle: Yeah, so?
Kate Beckett: So, you are watching me do paperwork. It's creepy.
-This is also the episode where we find out that the character in the book will be named Nikki Heat.
So did you like this episode? Dislike it? Discuss. We want to hear from you.

This is the one where Beckett shows up at the bookstore in that hot pink, incredibly short dress. I must admit, I didn't like the dress. I thought they could have picked something better.
Oddly enough, I liked Beckett's look when she was more casual the first couple of seasons and had shorter hair. I thought her look went over the top with the really long hair and high heels. Stana Katic is gorgeous but it looked like Kate Beckett was more supermodel than detective by the end of the series.

In my mind this is a bit of a sleeper episode. When I think about favorite episodes, this one isn't even on my radar. In reality, they crammed a lot of entertainment into this episode. I didn't care much about the COTW, but everything else about this episode was great. We get to see that despite Castle's bravado, he really is vulnerable when his book comes out. Martha is no help calling him to say no one is buying his books and finding the worst reviews for his book. I loved their interaction in the car when Castle is describing how he views the character he is basing on Beckett. Her expression shows that she is pleased until Castle announces she will be 'a little slutty'. I loved his line 'I'm a wise-ass not a jack-ass'. I always liked the car scenes. It gave them the opportunity to really talk, get to know each other, and develop their relationship. I loved it when Beckett was interrogating the suspect. Castle starts yelling about the flimsy alibi through the one-way mirror and they can all hear him. I loved when Castle called to set up a date with the hooker and Beckett chased after him telling him he can't do that because they are the police. Castle reminds her he's not. Back on the home front, Castle and Alexis are chopping onions wearing their onion goggles when Martha rushes in with a bad review. I love that Alexis shows him his good reviews and inadvertently breaks the case open for him. Great interaction in the morgue with Beckett and Lanie talking about 'Writer Boy'. Never understood why we didn't get more of that over the years. Of course, Beckett crashing his book reading was priceless. It was funny when she made fun of the passage 'the wind gathering up her hair', then she was pissed when she found out Castle's new character was named Nikki Heat. This is the episode where Castle brings in the espresso machine because their coffee tastes like 'a monkey peed in battery acid'. Also, I loved his blue ombre sweater! Wished he could have worn those the whole 8 seasons. He mentioned in this episode that he slept with his interior decorator. I remembered this in Murder, He Wrote when he was showing Beckett his Hampton home. I cringed when he said the interior decorator talked him into doing more of the house. Made me wonder if they 'broke in' the rooms when they were done. Also wondered if Beckett remembered that he had slept with her. This was when I really loved the Castle character. He was sexy, thoughtful, charming, fun-loving, irrepressible, confident, knowledgeable. Far cry from the bumbling, butt of the jokes, childish, sexless man of later years.

She didn't seem worried at all about fashion back then and her wardrobe was pretty plain but functional more like what I imagined a female detective would wear. I didn't like her hair that short but it looked like the kind of non-fussy hair that someone in her position would want. I think the 2nd or 3rd season, she had my favorite hair. I didn't understand when she suddenly went for the super model look, wearing designer clothes (how exactly did she afford those?) and a hairstyle that looked like she spent a couple of hours on it each day. Castle was the opposite, starting out with classy, good looking, flattering clothes and going to a couple of blue button downs and over sized ill-fitting jackets.

These early episodes had such great character development . We learned so much about them. WE never forgot but it seems the writers forgot to go back and read these character building episodes beginning with 623. These were the episodes that made us all get OCD. I love to remember these great characters.

I agree Tycho. I think this first season was more of setting up their characters, their backstory, and how everyone was relating to each other. The cases almost seemed like a 'second thought', and not the main focus. This episode, as far as the murder went, was kind of boring. The interesting part of the episode was the interactions between Castle and Beckett.

That's one of the first things I liked about Beckett; that she didn't dress like a supermodel, like so many other female cops on TV. That definitely changed over the years. And Castle was so handsome with a little bit of scruff. He also wore more TV shirts. He looked better overall in the early seasons and I think a lot of it had to do with wardrobe. It felt and looked like the character continually lost confidence as time went on.
