Season 8 prediction

All sorts of speculation about whether this is the last season or if it will be a shortened season, what does a co show runner mean.  So, here is my speculation.  As always, assume I am wrong.

I do not think it will be a shortened season, and I do not think it will be announced as a final season.  There are a couple of reasons for this.  For one, why have a co showrunner for a shortened season?  Two, why would Alexi Hawley sign on for just the last season (I guess you could flip this and say, he figured why not for just one season - I hate my brain sometimes)?  I think they brought Hawley back to tighten up the procedural part of the show to go with the good Caskett stuff.

I'm thinking the hesitation for Stana was two fold.  One, she wanted some assurances about the creative direction and two she wanted more (money, time off, who knows) to agree to options for more then one year.

Throw in that ABC produces Castle, it has a syndication and Hulu Plus deal.  Foreign TV and Books.  All that means there is still a revenue stream.  See the excellent article posted by tycho657 in the ratings section.

So, that is why I think that it will not be announced as a final season or a shortened season.

I think ABC wants to keep a good thing going. Co-show runners is their garuntee that this show is going to explore new and exciting storylines,while, at the same time, keep things in procedural structure with a little wiggle room for on the fly tweaking.

What Amman started , these two should continue on to the next level. And I have to tell you....I want a real wedding for these two.

One thing I hope for is more name stars to come and play on the Castle set. Columbo used to have all the stars come on and try to outwit Peter Faulk... Would love to see that. I watch Columbo on the Hallmark Channel and really enjoy it.

Also...could Nathan an Stana do a show in London or Austrailia? How cool would that be ?

Anyway....glad for season 8....(Fist Pump!!!). Yes!!!!
