Been busy and am just now doing this newest puzzle. I can't place the episode so will have to go do some research! Maybe someone else can beat me to solving it!

Just checked my notes. I think it's season 4. I need to go back tomorrow and double check.

Season 4 was my best guess too so I'll do some searching.

I think I know the episode but I'm having trouble remembering the details of the case. Is it 4x18, "A Dance with Death"? I think the big twist had something to do with the murder victim having a twin or a look-a-like. One of them died in an accident and then the other took over her identity.
I'm guessing that this was one of the few episodes where we saw Alexis working in the morgue with Lanie but I don't remember exactly what she found. I wish they'd followed up on Alexis internship in the morgue and gave her more scenes with Lanie. I think that would have made more sense for her character and been more interesting to watch.

This was my thinking when I did this puzzle. Alexis was really showing some talent for this work. I agree they would have been better of letting her team with Lanie and joining this team. And you did get the correct season and I did think it was 418 but I just went back to look up that scene and I don't think it is that episode. I don't have time today to look it up. Ok it is 4x18. Took me awhile to find this scene again. There is a lot in this short scene in the Morg.

Thanks to Tycho and PTVJ, I went back and watched the episode again. It's season 4, episode #18, A Dance With Death. The victim was a young woman competing on a dance show. 1. The scene in the puzzle is at the morgue with Lanie, Alexis, Beckett and Castle. 2. Alexis discovered some things that just didn't jive in the autopsy for the dead grandfather and it was her opinion that he was suffocated and did not die of natural causes. Lanie agreed. 3. Castle was proud that Alexis had been the one to figure this out. 4. The victim was actually Barbara Landau, though they originally thought it was Odette somebody. It turns out that the real Odette was killed in a train derailment and Barbara had assumed Odette's identity. Her investigation into Odette's past got her killed because she had figured out that Odette's boyfriend had murdered the grandfather. It was the same boyfriend, Odette's business manager, who murdered Barbara to keep her quiet. A couple of other fun things from the episode - we found out that Lanie had been a ballerina as a kid and this was also the episode when Ryan gave Espo his wedding ring to wear to a strip club and then Espo couldn't get it off.
