Christine! Tell them the rest! LOL! I was going to wait until afterwards but since Nathanfan is prompting...I have tickets for Sunday's performance. I've been a fan of Susan's since I was a kid watching Falcon Crest. I'd love to get to meet her after the show but I'm trying not to get my hopes up as I've never been to this theater before and have no idea if or how I'd go about doing that. Even if I do get to meet her I'm not really sure what I'll say but I'm going to try anyway. Wish me luck.

Everything crossed, and wishing upon a star, that you have the pleasure of meeting her after the show! Make it happen, sister! Take chances and just go for it! Oh, and BEST of luck!

I got to see Susan Sullivan in Steel Magnolias yesterday. I’ve always loved the story but had only seen the movie, never the play. And it never fails, I always cry at the end of this story. It's a lot less embarrassing when you’re balling your eyes out sitting on your sofa instead of in the middle of a theater full of people!
I actually think I saw Susan before the play. The parking lot is incredibly small and even though I got there early, I ended up paying the $20 for valet parking because I couldn’t find a spot anywhere. While turning around in the cramped parking lot, I’m pretty sure I passed Susan who was parking in one of the few reserved spots.
The theater was the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania, which is very picturesque and right on the Delaware River. The theater itself was much smaller than I expected but that just meant that my seat was very close to the stage. I was in row 8, center stage.
All of the actresses were wonderful. Susan played Clairee (Olympia Dukakis in the movie), Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) played Ouiser (Shirley MacLaine in the movie). Patricia Richardson (best known as the mom from Home Improvement) played M’Lynn (Sally Field in the movie), and Elaine Hendrix (from FX’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) was Truvy (Dolly Parton in the movie), Clea Alsip was Shelby (Julia Roberts in the movie) and Lucy DeVito (daughter of Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman) was Annelle (Daryl Hannah in the movie).
Everyone was wonderful. I especially liked Elaine Hendrix as Truvy because I never thought anyone could make me forget Dolly Parton in that role but she did. Susan was very good and made me see her character in a different light.
You could tell that once or twice, someone missed a line. That’s most likely because it was only their second day. I found it interesting how the actresses picked things up when that happened.
Afterwards, I waited by the back doors in hopes of meeting Susan. First, Patricia Richardson and Clea Alsip left separately. Then Elaine Hendrix left with her large and very nice dog. They all said hello to fans and took photos but it felt like they all had somewhere to go. It was a while before Jessica Walters and Susan Sullivan came out together.
Susan seemed tired and a little overwhelmed by the fans that were waiting. I got to speak with her very briefly, told her I’d been a fan since Falcon Crest and loved her in Castle but it was kind of chaotic. She was carrying flowers and asked if she could put them in her car and come back.
Well, she went to her car and then was accosted by another group of fans. I think she thought that the first group had come over because she didn’t come back to us which was a little disappointing but I don’t blame her for it. It was a bit chaotic.
I did get her to sign my playbill. I’m not normally into getting autographs but she was doing it for someone else so I felt like it couldn’t hurt to ask. I would have liked a photo but it just didn’t work out.
I’m happy I went and the play was well worth it. I’m glad I got to see Susan on stage live and in person. It was a fun afternoon.

I'm glad for you, Christine. Being a fan of Susan 's for a while, it must have been quite emotional to meet her in person :-)

Okay, I may be thinking of the wrong person, but was Susan in the soap opera Another World? My aunt used to watch that, and for some reason I THINK I remembered her in that. And I WAS a Dallas and Falcon Crest and later, Knot's Landing, watching gurl. Those hit in the prime of my babysitting years. I would get the kiddos to bed just in time for Dallas and Falcon Crest. I was never much of a partier in high school when everyone went out drinking, so I was happy to have steady babysitting jobs. And an excuse to watch my shows. lol... After that, I remember tuning in to Moonlighting, ever so randomly, during nursing school. I never had much time during or after nursing school to watch anything. Not until the boys were little did I take up watching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. That was my ONLY time during the week that my husband would make sure I didn't get disturbed and would let "mommy watch her show".... lol.... I KNOW I missed tons of episodes of Dr. Quinn, however. I would LOVE to watch that series from beginning to end again one day. I think Angie would be on board with me for that one. Maybe we'd even have to start a thread. hahahaha... Sorry about the tangent! Glad you had an enjoyable time, Christine!

Glad you were able to see the live performance. They are always amazing to see. I would imagine that Susan was very tired after her performance and was ready to head to her hotel. I'm glad you got to say a few words to her and get an autograph. You don't see many selfies with Susan.

AW was one of my mom's shows, so naturally it became one of mine. I don't remember how long Susan was on it.

How great for you Christine! Even though you only got a few moments with Susan, how fun to actually see her live onstage!

I'm so happy you at least got to meet her face to face, Christine! It is too bad that there were so many fans wanting her attention. I was hoping you'd have her all to yourself! Still, a wonderful opportunity. I'm so glad you enjoyed the play.

I did watch Days of Our Lives faithfully for a couple of decades. It's been a long time, but I bet I could pick it back up & figure out what's what in. No time. Lol....
