Unfortunately, a stinkin' virus has taken hold at our house. I still wanted to get this thread started and I hope a lot of you will chime in with your thoughts after the show. I'll be back when I'm feeling better.
Loved the episode, too fun And, it has to be asked, I wonder if phone insurance covers throwing stars.

Feel better soon nathanfan1 We have it here too, achhhhooooooooooooI thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode! Beckett dressing Castle down for making out with a Geisha! Castle asking Gates if he can expense the $6000 tab! HYSTERICAL!!!!!!
The twist and turns of the COTW were entertaining. Caskett seemed on track. Castle prying the throwing star from his phone and what happened next was a riot!!!
Would have loved to see where the throwing star hit Gates. LOL!!!

This was one fun episode with all those twists and turns. But it was killer ninja assassin so the plot had to be just like the killer. Just love this one. So funny. A nice blend of the serious with the fun, action, and humor that are classic Castle.Nathan just hit it out of the park with his looks and delivery. Just love the scene right before the opening credits with his "a ninja just stole the murder weapon.....ah, ah...YEAH!" That was so funny. His expression was priceless. And Stana at that point just staring at him with that blank expression was hilarious. Also just love her line about the friend from high school. "She talks about the goddess in her hooha". I was chuckling at that and thought did I just hear her say that?
One thing I thought was interesting is how they paralleled Jade's sister's story to Kate's. The same idea. Family member is killed by a crime syndicate run by someone calling themselves The Dragon and the victim's family works to take down the evil doer. Jade would be Johanna. Her sister is Kate. The Green Dragon named Bradford is Bracken. We even got Vulcan Simmons too in that guy near the end that looked and sounded like a Japanese version of him. The Yakuza is like Brackens dirty little dealings and secrets. Notice too that both "dragons" start with Bra-.
It's interesting that for us, Castle is the Blue Dragon or Blue-Green Dragon, a force of good but for Jade's sister The Green Dragon was the opposite and totally evil. And poor Jade, her name ended up being ironic. Jade is a semi precious green stone. Green means life, spirited, or spring, or rebirth, renewal. Jade ended up dead thus the irony.
Just a cleverly written episode with all the parallel and some mirrors too. Love this one.
Nathanfan, feel better fast--thinking of you--and of your fam, too!!!
6x18 – THE WAY OF THE NINJA is certainly not boring; nor will CASKETT’S married life be boring—and the latter will even be covered in CASKETT’S wedding vows!!! With a delightful mix of comedy and drama, perfectly delivered witty, character developing, and crime solving scenes, dialogue, and expressions told a challenging, heart-melting crime solving story, while giving guest actors, who did wonderfully, and Nathan/Rick, Stana/Kate, RYAN/Seamus, ESPO/Jon, GATES/Penny, and PERLMUTTER/Arye absolute gems to say with incredibly perfect, facial expressions, gestures, and stances!!! Their comic timing and/or dramatic deliveries—their every expression--devotion, frustration and development, concern, and love—perfectly conveyed!!! Everyone is his or her character—again, well, perfectly!!!
Stana/Kate is ever, more beautiful and ever, more obviously in love—hair, make up—costume—leather jacket and leggings—every selection complimented Stana’s Kate!!! Awesome detective, boss, partner, and fiancée, Kate shares her frustrations and concerns with her life partner—whom she imitates with more than a bit of sarcasm—and, so salaciously sampled, her cronuts with her boy, RYAN!!!
That handsome Nathan/Rick rocked his looks, charm, wardrobe—his theories; his forgotten, promised call to Kate; and his “Ninja” experiences, culminating in his iPhone-damaged, painfully extracted, throwing star, hurled at GATES, giving Penny/GATES yet another chance to offer yet another unique and every time, perfect, “Mr. CASTLE”!!! No, Rick could not expense the $6,000.00 club tab, which receipt, GATES, glaring, of course, crumpled!!! Rick only hopes that Kate is over her broken cup!!!
Seamus/RYAN aka CASTLE, Jr., and Jon/ESPO were again right on every time!!! RYAN responded to Kate’s query about having seen THROWDINI with, “Um, not so far,” and quickly dispatching his Geisha to a “more comfortable” seat, not in his lap!!! Jon/ESPO, single guy, rather relished some of the Geisha experiences and clearly expressed his concerns about what CASTLE was doing!!!
I always miss Tamala/Lanie, when she is not in an episode; but Arye’s/PERLMUTTER’S curmudgeonly snark is perfectly delivered, if difficult to hear and more difficult to be the recipient of--“What you don't know about post-mortem analysis could fill a book, Mr. CASTLE. In fact it has. Numerous times." Now, how would PERLMUTTER know that unless he’s read those books?!
From street to precinct to Geisha Club to cookie factory to loft—sets, music, lighting, wardrobe and makeup, cinematography, editing—all—are amazing!!! It’s repetitive but valid and vital to continue to complement our CASTLE show runner, crew, cast, and team!!! What fun everyone involved must have had working on this episode—and what hard work provided our fun, squees, and appreciation!!! Writers Christine ROUM and Shawn WAUGH and director Larry SHAW rate kudos and thanks!!!
“I could happily quote nearly every line of script but here find just a few of the treasures, these jewels, from Stana/Kate and Nathan/Rick:
“The Ninja can’t be a ballet dancer. It would be such a huge letdown.
“Of course, we can’t let facts get in the way of a good story.
If this is a tea company, I think I want a cup…”
"You didn’t call because you were in a private room, making out with a Geisha?!?! And that’s when the Ninjas attacked?"
"I've been there, you want blood for blood but it's not worth it!
“Thanks for protecting the people that I care about.
“Does this mean that you’ve forgiven me for not calling?”
That awesomesauce series of CASKETT kisses were, indeed, “getting there” a tortuous process!!! Squee!!!

Hey everyone group hugs..All season I keep looking for the one episode I wished I could un see. Yes believe it or not there are just few I can count on my 5 fingers that I rather not sit thru again. I do re watch them yes but one time a year if that. I call them the "Heartbreak" episodes. So far this season I have yet to find one that I didn't like. I only get to go by the promo since I am spree now so judging by the promo alone I was expecting this to be the heartbreak episode. There have been a couple more this season I predicted to be a heartbreak episode but so far I have yet been disappointed. I find myself have a problem trying to pick which one is the best. They have all been so good and the writing this season has been superb. Its more darkish but with humor mixed with light. I feel like its the same writer doing this whole season because I don't see any difference in who is writing it. They all do the best this season.
This episode was hilarious I kept waiting for Castle to get him a Ninja suit. We already seen him in a sword dual this season. That would have been the icing on the cake if he had suited up in a ninja costume. I never laughed so hard in my life he was just hilarious. I don't know how they ever finished those scenes with a straight face. I would have never been able to hold it in until the scene was over.
I have to give my boy Ryan props for calling out him being married despite the fact he was undercover. I respect that he puts his marriage first. yea I may be undercover and trying to get answers from these Geisha chicks but I am not going to break my vows for it. I applaud him for staying with it. I love a man with integrity and honoring his vows.
The ninja fight was awesome. I was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fangirl when I was a kid. I was a girl Leo. The original cartoon and movie. I have always loved Ninja movies. I use to pretend I was a ninja fighting pretend enemy. I thought they could do anything and I wanted to flip and jump and fight like that.
That last scene killed me. He had to hit the one person in the precinct that could look at him and shoot him w/o hesitating. I laughed for 30 minutes. OMG talk about a OCD moment at the wrong time. I was at work running a register. I was checking out some people and my thoughts went to that scene when he threw that spin thing and hit Gates. I laughed out loud and everyone looking at me like I was crazy lol.
I don't have time to go into Caskett moments but what I have to say is definitely NOT boring at all...
Good episode
I hope everyone is ok, love all yall...

Hey Muzik Have you heard the song "Love is not a fight" My son sang it at his brother's wedding. I noticed under your icon those words and wondered if that was where you found that quote?Well, I'm back among the living! You KNOW I had to be sick if I didn't watch Castle until Tuesday night! 'Nuff said, but thanks for the well wishes.
I've been thinking about just how to describe this episode and the best thing I've come up with is that it was the best of both worlds. I really felt that it had some of the vibe of seasons one and two in the way Castle was so enthusiastic and determined to have the case turn into a great story. However, it also had all of the relationship goodies that the last two seasons have developed - hence, the best of both worlds.
We all know what a great actress Stana is and I think this episode pointed out how very versatile she can be. Last week we saw her tortured but fierce and leaving a desperate message for her fiance and this week she was nailing the comedy left and right. I just got the giggles at the beginning of the show when she was mocking her friend and then there were so many other times when she got digs in on Castle and did her famous eye rolls. Her reaction to him asking if she was still mad about him for breaking the cup was hysterical. Also, I know I've said this not too long ago but I have to say it again - I don't know if there's anyone who plays a woman in love better than Stana. The makeup scene with the 3 kisses just melted my heart. Talk about love eyeballs!!!!! That woman has got it going on!
Nathan was in classic Castle form throughout the episode. In that opening scene we saw a little of the full-of-himself trait that was common in season one. Another classic reaction was when the ninja took the knife from him at the cookie factory. He had that gob-smacked look at first but when the reality of it all hit him, he could barely contain his glee. I loved his pouty reaction when Esposito said it was a ballet dancer and he just couldn't make himself believe that because it would ruin his story. It hearkens back to the famous, "Don't ruin my story with your logic." His hair brained idea to push the cup off the table and thereby determine if their suspect was a ninja was perfectly in character as was his question during the last big fight, "Which one do I shoot?" He and Gates make quite the comedy duo too. The way he stammered through asking if he could expense the $6,000 and then the closing, "Mr. Castle!" were just delightful.
That whole tea room scene was really well done IMO. I liked how each of the three guys' personalities shone through. There was Ryan who was very uncomfortable with the girls because he was married but still managed to get into singing karioke. Espo was more than happy to volunteer to be the one to keep the girls entertained and the looks on his face indicated he was enjoying the sights. Plus, he did such a good job of being disgusted with Ryan singing. Leave it to Castle to go for the intel, even if it meant some private time. I thought they played that well. There was never any indication that he was emotionally involved, in fact he tried to put the girl off until he understood her reasoning. After they got kicked out of the club, I laughed at Espo pointing out that Castle had lipstick on his collar and he said Beckett would kill him, but when he realized that he'd forgotten to call her, his reaction was decidedly escalated - hands over mouth and eyes wide with fear! That fear was echoed perfectly after they were back at the precinct and Ryan came to tell Castle that Beckett was calling for him. Ryan knew he was in deep do-do!
The case was good and held my interest but I thought that all 5 of the main cast members really did shine in this one. They have these characters so internalized that they make it look effortless to portray them, both in drama and in comedy. This is such a high quality show on so many levels --- but I guess I'm preaching to the choir!
Glad you are feeling better Nathsnfan. This episode will always hold a special place for me as I saw them film all of the scenes outside the studio. I couldn't wait to see the boys with the ninjas. When I asked Seamus about the ninjas he was so funny. He said "Ninjas? ? I know nothing about ninjas? With a big smile on his face. We watched tge stunt guy practicing his ninja moves. I thought we would see the ninjas fly up and away.
The indoor house scenes I knew would be 2 days as they zipped back to the studio to change clothes. I also saw the guest star who was the killer ninja. I recognized him so I has my suspicions that he would be the killer. He waved as us when he was leaving. He was surprised to see fans hanging out at the location shoot.

I loved this episode. Smart & funny & perfectly "Castle."I have a question, though, before I let my kid watch it. My connection was bad because of a storm, so I missed spots here & there. I know I'll need to skip the geisha scene, but was there anything else a 9 year old shouldn't see or hear?
