Word on the street is that our shipper are going to explode tonight! You're more than welcome to come back here after the show to SWOON and FLAIL to your heart's content.
Brilliant. Great case. Great Caskett, but not too syrupy. Somewhat profound at the end. And, In My Veins. Are u f'ing kidding me. I can be cynical and critical, but kudos to the Creasey's and Kevin Hooks.
My big ol' shipper heart is singin' tonight!!!!!!!!!!!! And my Nathan-lovin' eyes are a sparklin'! What an enjoyable episode!
Although I'll never be a case oriented viewer, tonight's story drew me in quite nicely. There were some great twists and I also think that it helped that it was kids and their actions and motives were different than the usual ones. As usual, they did a great job of playing with a controversial subject, letting Castle have his moments when Kate couldn't find a logical explanation and his theories might have been believable and then letting him get the stuffing kicked out of him in the interrogation of the young boy. Kate's 'I told you so' look and Castle's sheepish one, were just perfect!
I loved the back stories we got in this episode!!!! Great job of filling in past histories on both main characters in their high school days and they definitely stuck with canon in regards to what we'd already been told. Wasn't it episode 2 when Castle admits he'd been kicked out of the city's finest schools? The cow on the roof would certainly have made him famous with his peers but not so much with the principal. I have to confess to a moment of pity over him being expelled and not the others who were in on the prank. They had parents with deep pockets and he only had a struggling single mother who got him in on a scholarship. I wonder how Martha felt about the way it played out? I also loved that it was revealed they both missed their senior proms. Kate's story fits with the bad girl image Maddie shared about her in Food To Die For. Their toast in the loft to all of the things they missed and all of the things they didn't, was really quite touching.
I just have to focus on my main squeeze - Nathan - for a minute. The way he reacted to seeing the old principal again was so cute! Darn, he's good at looking sheepish. He was in rare form with all of the theories tonight too. It's fun to see him try to get under Kate's skin. It was a hoot to think of him as Richard Rogers but the fact that the principal called him Mr. Castle at the end was a nice recognition of how he'd done well with his life. And that last scene ...... swooning ........
As I'm sure a lot of you would guess, the Caskett story line was the HIGHLIGHT for me! I loved seeing them be so comfortably domestic. First, they're getting ready for bed and then later, Castle's making supper and Kate sets the plates. I know we still haven't heard that Kate is officially moving into the loft, but it's very apparent that she has essentially already done it, regardless of whether or not she's sold her old apartment. Then there's the search for the perfect song. I have to say the Castle team nailed it with In My Veins. That song already has such a strong meaning among we die hard viewers because of Always. It's fitting!
One of the items on my Castle bucket list has been to have them dance together again and I don't know if I could have possibly dreamed up a more touching scene than this ending one. To think that they both attended their first prom-like dance together is truly swoon worthy. Castle's answer to Kate about having no regrets about his life because it led him to this moment with her, brought tears to my eyes and then all of the kissing and embracing as the song played was incredibly touching. Good grief! How will I ever handle the wedding and the vows? I was a puddle of mush over this one!
I'm adding this one to the already long list of season 6 episodes that have delighted me! Can't wait to watch it many. many more times.
SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT 6x15 is beautifully written, thank you, Dara REZNIK CREASEY and Chad Gomez CREASEY—directed, thank you, Kevin HOOKS—and executed, thank you, all aspects of CASTLE team—music, sets, lighting, wardrobe, makeup, special effects, cinematography, editing, ….!!! How interesting that the CREASEYS' tweet(s)that the two most difficult scenes to film were the cafeteria scene and the final scene, the latter, requiring two to three takes and complicated by numbers of actors and moving pieces involved!!!
CASKETT and their great love story are increasingly sweet, fun, captivating and captivated, adorable, committed, devoted, domestic, flirty, and loving—what looks, embraces, and dialogue—all, thank you, Stana and Nathan, as always—totally spot on, assuring that this episode, too, will require many, many, many re-watches!!! Ah, all of CASKETT’S chemistry and smitten smiles, indeed, reaching their eyes!!!
Rick checks Kate out at the school—just as they both, in various/many?!/now, most?! episodes—continue to do—fun!!! We can but love how they tease and support one another, as past memories, stories, and feelings emerge?! Our DD “do that thing they do”—“Do we not have a song?”—and at the crime scene and precinct when a charmed Kate solicits Rick’s, naturally, at-the-ready theories, in this case, Hulk as perpetrator—later “the outcast, mean girls, telekinesis”!!!—Jordan GIBBS, who sought and earned her scholarship!!! Kate and Rick make theory together, as the case, mystery and their relationship and story progress!!! Kate: “There’s a logical explanation, okay?” Rick: “I’d love to hear it.”
We get Stana/Kate eye rolls and spoken Russian; and I find quite natural, use of her hands for story-telling, case-investigating emphasis!!! Nathan/Rick should—well, accompany her into interrogation in order to “protect” her—and so he does!!!
The bookended and mid-show, beyond incredible, along with CASKETT scenes featuring Rick’s “trying to get me in the mood” music/wedding song suggestions—Kate’s description of Karaoke "Witchcraft," juxtaposed with Rick’s memory of "Dancing in the Dark"—and later, his song list, and Kate’s and Rick’s questions and revelations about Prankster RODGERS—finally addressed as CASTLE by the principal, who has also mellowed his attitude toward and punishments for scholarship students!!! Along with scholarship student RODGERS emerges Rebel Becks—who chose an East Village poetry slam over a school dance and who, like Rick RODGERS, missed her prom!!! What’s not to savor about CASKETT’S toast to the things that they’ve missed and the things they’ve not missed and Rick’s invitation and Kate’s acceptance to the dance, clasping hands!!! Rick and Kate can appreciate another couple’s blossoming romance!!! Soon, our DD are lost figuratively in the “never-ending” dance and the unceasing music and literally, in one another!!! “‘Magnetism’”—cheers—squeeee!!! How lovely CASKETT’S simultaneous, “I’ve always loved this song”!!! Ah, Rick’s smiling, “Could it be, we just found a song” and Kate’s responding smile!!! Well, “Magnetism”!!! Cheers and squeeeee!!!
Our melt with Nathan’s/Rick’s declaration: “Everything I’ve ever done, every choice I’ve ever made, every terrible and wonderful thing that has ever happened to me, it has all led me to right here, this moment with you.”—and with Stana’s/Kate’s, “…Shut up and kiss me”!!! Again, “‘Magnetism’”—cheers—squeeee!!!
"In My Veins" as their song—perfect!!! And, what glorious foreshadowing of CASKETT’S wedding, first dance!!!
I couldn't have said it any better CFG. Kudos!!!
It all seemed to work and Caskett is steam rolling ahead now.I couldn't ask for more.
That KISS .................. is my new favorite Caskett kiss. KISS/BLISS

Three words....In! My! Veins!Swoon! Double swoon with the whole scene! And how the two "oddball" teenagers, Jordan and the boy, got together at the end. They were basically Rick and Kate when they were in high school. Rick the scholarship/nerdy boy and Kate the rebel girl. Had Rick and Kate gone to the same school they would have been just like them, maybe getting together maybe not. But now, they have grown up, still have touches of the nerdy boy and the rebel girl, but they are together.
The song is just perfect to be theirs. I just love how they took this song and reused it to show the difference in their relationship from before and now. In Always, with Kate sitting and crying in the rain on their swing feeling all those emotions, it had such a bittersweet, sad, depressing, and despondent, almost desperate sound and feeling/meaning. Now, at the end of Smells Like Teen Spirit, they turned it all around and it sounds, happy, hopeful, true, everlasting, just like their relationship. The song is Always.
I found a page on the net about the meaning of the song. I want to share it so I hope the person that posted it doesn't mind I quoted their post here, especially since the person mentioned Castle. From: songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858829675/
"The way I see it, this song is about a break-up and getting over that person. Something happened "Nothin' goes as planned/everything will break", things went wrong and everything changed between them "Everything will change/nothing stays the same". The other person left "people say goodbye/in their own special way" and now this person is trying to move on and heal from the pain that the break-up caused and it takes time.
"All that you rely on
And all that you can fake
Will leave you in the morning
But find you in the day"
At first, you don't even know where to begin, but as the day goes by you manage to find a way to survive and keep moving and put on a smile for the world, you find something that keeps you afloat long enough to make it on your own and by the end of the day you see that you made it. But by the next day everything you had the day before that kept you afloat is gone so you go through the process again.
Oh you're in my veins
"And I cannot get you out
Oh you're all I taste
At night inside of my mouth
Oh you run away
Cause I am not what you found
Oh you're in my veins
And I cannot get you out."
That's pretty self explanatory. The person can't get over the other person. The feelings are strong and it's hard to get over them.
"And nobody here's perfect
Oh but everyone's to blame"
Everyone makes mistakes because that's our nature so everyone's going to have some share of the blame.
"Everything is dark.
It's more than you can take.
But you catch a glimpse of sun light.
Shinin', Shinin' down on your face."
The pain is overwhelming and you can't handle it but there's hope. Someone or something is out there ready to help you through it all.
That's just how I see it. I went through something like this so I can relate to it but I love the song anyway. I heard it in two TV shows: first, The Vampire Diaries, and second, Castle.

This is pretty much spot on I think. So very Caskett. From the very beginning, from that first case, from her "you have no idea" and his amused, interesting smile, clear to now, they have always been in each other's vein, in each other's blood, not able to ever give up the other. No matter what the trial, no matter what the joy, they always came back to each other. It was always about each other.
Brilliant. Great case. Great Caskett, but not too syrupy. Somewhat profound at the end. And, In My Veins. Are u f'ing kidding me. I can be cynical and critical, but kudos to the Creasey's and Kevin Hooks.
And to top it off with that little make-out session on the dance floor.... and I really lost it when Kate's hands went up to Castle's neck and they nuzzled in a little tighter and then her hands went up into his hair! OMG! I couldn't breathe! I would've been burnt toast had his hands gone into her hair! Our Stana sure knows how to make out! LoL! Way to go, girl! GEEEZZZZ..... Gah. *breathless*
I have to say I loved Castle saying that Madison made the Hulk angry! I busted out laughing at that! And him playing with that red tubed gizmo thingy in the doctor's cave.... "He touches things".... I just chuckled because he is so incredibly adorable!
Anyway, I thought this whole episode was gripping! We had a great, intriguing case, and TONS of sweetness sprinkled throughout! That ending is my second favorite only to ALWAYS.
Like I said, BRILLIANT! And brings new meaning to the word MAGNETISM!! It definately brings *HAPPY* into my life!

From what I understand, the Creasys are big shippers! And there are tweets from them last night saying that it was Dara's idea for the song, but Andrew okay'd it! Just incredible! This show never ceases to amaze me in their detail. Echoing what you've said, along with the continuity nathanfan brought up in her post.
And the magnetism.... OH YEAH! BIG-TIME SQUEE! And I'm STILL SQUEEING! I love this show and I love us! This fandom! Because only we "get each other"... I'm pretty certain that if my mother saw the way I carry on she would have the men in white coats assess me for mental illness. LoL! Because seriously, the ending of this episode had my heart racing and me smiling so big my cheeks hurt! And I was watching alone! How much better it would've been to have one of you with me!
SO fun to SQUEE here with you! With ALL of you!
Well castlekat, I for one would LOVE to watch this episode with you because my heart and face were doing the same things! We'd be a squeeing puddle of goo!

So sweet - THANK YOU! ....and I ditto your sentiments, my friend! Because I have watched other episodes with you, and those who were with us, and there truly is nothing like watching Castle with those who adore it as much as we all do!
And being a squeeing puddle of goo over Castle is what we do. And one of my favorite things to do!
Loved this episode! When I heard that we were getting a new couple to write for Castle this was the episode I was hopingto see. Oneof my new Castle friends from Australia was there when they were filming this episode. We saw the area when they go to talk to the Doc who was helping her understand her new ability. She said Dara was very nice and came out to talk with them during the day of the lo ation shoot. I will try and find that shot of the are to post when I get home.

When I heard the notes of the song starting I literally clamped my hands over my mouth, squeeeing, cause I wanted to hear what they said. Perfect ending. The song is so them cause it's their story said with poetry and music. The dance a foreshadow of the first dance at their wedding. Such an excellent episode. So well done by all our cast and crew. Another favorite to watch over and over. I still have the song going through my head. Feb 18, 2014 17:40:42 GMT -5 @kastlefan301 said:
Notice that the dance theme or name was "Starry Knight". Rick is Kate's star and knight.Feb 18, 2014 17:16:23 GMT -5 @kastlefan301 said:

Agree with everything that's been said here! Another classic episode. Season 6 is just hitting it out of the park.
Don't know if anyone has gone through the viewing party thread, but it was pretty surreal that we were kind of joking around about what could be their song, and Nerwen just threw out "In My Veins" for fun, and then when it started playing, I think all our jaws dropped.
And then of course I had to go watch Always again.......
I wasn't able to log in for Monday but I have to say that I loved the ending to this episode.
(( But I think I technically beat Nerwen on the whole "prom" thing. When it was revealed that Castle nor Beckett had gone I was like "I bet they're going to go to the dance" to my mom )).
I didn't see "In My Veins" being Caskett's song ... but I loved it and actually squealed a bit

Really liked this episode. I wasn't thinking of "In My Veins" to be the Caskett song, but it was the perfect choice. It was a nice way for the writers to pay tribute to Castle and Beckett's journey and to recognize the fans who have followed the show for so long. I really enjoyed monday's episode. And, loved the ending
Love Kate telling Rick," shut up and kiss me". It is also a title of a great song by Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Nice vid! Thanks for sharing, catluver. I'm embarrassed to admit just how many times I've watch that ending this past week!
