To all the moms out there.... of humans and furry, feathered, whatever you "mother".... wishing you a day filled with all the love and joy your heart can hold! One thing I very much appreciate about my mom, is she taught me the value and worth of life, all life, and to love animals. My husband and I have a big dog and three cats. I knew I would have to marry someone who loved fur balls as much as I do. And I think he is perhaps a bigger sap than even myself. lol... I am an only child, but my hubs & I have two boys, ages 23 & 19. They bring me joy every day. Not just the possibility, the real deal. <3 <3 Anyway, here is me & my treasured mom ....

Happy Mother's Day to every woman who mothers something or someone in some way.
My dear mother passed away last year. She was an amazing woman! Mother of 12 children (I'm the oldest), widowed at age 45 (youngest child was 4). Two years after dad died, my mom bought a 40-acre farm and moved there with 10 of her kids. She sewed for neighbors and her own children, gardened, canned, knitted/crocheted, quilted, home schooled 11 kids, and made learning tools for them. She joined the "health craze" back in the late 70s and on her farm raised organic grass-fed chickens and beef which she sold to others. She made her own butter, cheese, granola, bread, and many other things. She loved to clean, organize, and create. I learned so much from her, especially when it came to keeping house and caring for children. She passed on her love of music to me (I've played piano for 43 years), her appreciation of fine art and good books. It seems there was nothing she could not do.
I miss her every day, but am so thankful she is not suffering from Alzheimer's anymore. I know I will be reunited with her someday. Until then, I strive to pass on to my 5 daughters what my mother passed on to me.

I miss my mother every day even though she died (alas, in a car crash) 37 years ago when I was 30. My husband and I hadn't been married a year when it happened but I thank whoever was watching over me and brought him to me as he was a rock. We were in Dubai and had to fly home to sort things out. I still don't remember much about that time. I had no other family to speak of - no siblings, father etc.
My son was born after she died so he never knew my mother but I know she would have loved him and would have spent hours knitting clothes for him.
So now I'm mother to my son, grandmother to my little grandchild, plus at various times mother to my cats and dogs!
To all mothers I wish you well.

My mom is a strong woman and she sacrificed a lot to come to this country with my grandmother and I when she was 23. Didn't speak the language and just one suitcase with clothes for the three of us. She's incredible. I now have three beautiful daughters ages 19, 19, 24 and my fur baby Wrigleyvwho just turned 13. Being their mother is the best thing to happen to me. Happy Mother's Day to everyone who mothers, out there!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms here on our board!Hope you all had a wonderful day. Mine was busy but good. First I got up early and went out to see Marvel's Captain America: Civil War all by myself for a 9:30am showing. I had two and a half hours of alone time and indulged in some popcorn and soda. Then I came home to my six-year-old who had made me several cards, pictures and projects. I don't know what's better, the things she put so much effort into making or how excited she was to give them to me. Then we skyped with my mom who lives across the country and later took my mother-in-law out for dinner. With two shows to review tonight (Once Upon a Time and The Good Wife) it was a jam packed day but definitely a good one. Hope you can all say the same.
