Three cheers for a new episode! Please come back and share your thoughts after you've seen it. I for one, especially want to know what people think about THE dress! I saw several pictures of the dress that have been posted over the last couple of weeks and I never liked that gauzy skirt. And seeing it in tonight's episode, that thought hasn't changed. The base dress itself is beautiful but that white thing around it needs to go. I loved this episode. Loved that Castle wanted to be so involved in the planning, and had to laugh when Kate asked him to take Martha along to look at the venue. I'm glad Kate opened up to him about what she was feeling, and that she wanted to get married sooner rather than later. And Castle saying the same thing to Martha. So does this mean a wedding cliffhanger as opposed to a wedding premiere? This was one of the best Caskett episodes ever. Lots of affection, and them continuing to open up more to each other. This season just continues to be great! The case was engaging, and while I didn't figure it out right away, I did figure out who the killer was before they got to it. Almost felt sorry for Matilda; kind of nice that they humanized her in the end. NOOO!! I thought I had my DVR set up to record tonight but Nooo So I guess I will have to buy on iTunes . I agree with motowncf the white stuff has to go. If she has to wear this dress fine. However, lets get rid of the puffy stuff for the reception the rest of the dress was gorgeous Right off the top - loved the episode but HATE the dress! IMO all of that tulle coming out of her middle seriously detracts from her beautiful figure. Now that I have that off my chest ........ I loved that we truly got to see 2 people who are anxious and excited to get married. It did my shipper heart a world of good! I had to chuckle at Kate thinking that all of the bride magazines were so "girly." She certainly doesn't see herself as being all glassy eyed about a dress but then she kind of ends up doing that very thing. I also loved Kate's spontaneous grab and kiss over agreeing on a venue. And I have to love Martha not remembering the 70's very clearly! I have to say that I was definitely left waiting for more to be made over Kate having been a model. I expected a good deal of teasing and/or probing by Castle to get the story of that experience. He was initially surprised and looked like a dog who just found a bone, but it never came up again. I really enjoy the barbs that fly between Espo and Castle. The comment about "real" men and the mispronunciation of 'chic' along with Espo's failure to acknowledge Castle, were all a hoot. It was so satisfying to hear Castle tell Martha that he'd waited long enough and didn't want to wait over a year to take the next step in their relationship. Three cheers for Martha in pushing him to go for it! When Castle calls Kate about the venue being available as she's trying on the dress, we get another of Stana's amazing facial reactions. She is a virtual master at communicating emotion with her expressions and my heart was breaking for her as she imagined her mom being there with her. I had to restrain myself when Kate tells Castle at the precinct that she turned down the venue because of all the details and not wanting to be rushed. I REALLY didn't want her to lie about her feelings. Thankfully, the scene at the loft was perfect as she explained her reaction and chastised herself for it. Castle, being the understanding man he is, assures her that she's just being human and also offers her more time if that's what she needs - putting her needs before his own, but I get my happy ending after all as Kate's adamant about getting married in the spring. Is anyone else screaming at the screen - "Just go to the Hamptons!" The most heart-melting part of that final scene for me though, was when Kate told Castle that her mom would have adored him. I bet I've read that a dozen times in various fan fics and now I finally got to hear her tell him on the show. It doesn't get any better than that! There's only one other thing that I thought was a little odd towards the end. Why didn't Kate go into cop mode the minute she entered her apartment and saw that someone had been there? Granted, it was a pretty box and there was a card, but her cop sense should have told her to be a little more cautious or questioning, if you ask me. Anyway, it was a deliciously satisfying episode with honest communication, lots of evident love and well lit kisses! I guessed the killer right off the bat. Besides that, I echo the white part of the dress; hated it. I loved the silver lacy bits at the top and middle. For a minute they made me doubt that Kate was having second thoughts but then I kind of figured she'd be thinking about her mom, this makes perfect sense. I loved the ending, the dress and the talk with Castle. Absolutely *hearted* the moments between them in this eppy. Very Casketty. I enjoyed the episode And, perhaps I'm in the minority but, I liked the dress. No its not a style I would choose for myself but, it does have a flare that makes it unique. I think once the accessories, like the veil and such, are added it might just prove to be absolutely stunning. Of coarse I could be wrong. Motown and Nathanfan, I would have mentioned the things that you noted and appreciated!!! So many things to love and enjoy!!! Kudos for the humor, love, caring, warmth, fun, and acting that you applauded!!! Cliffhanger wedding?! Spring wedding?! Wedding location?!--the Hamptons?! The NY Public Library?! City Hall?! The swing set?! The Central Park Castle/similar?! I imagine that I'll be surprised--sooner rather than later?!
I did chuckle when Martha "You're Welcomed," her way to a thank you as Kate and Rick loved and kiss-celebrated the Cordova House wedding venue--and when Kate hid behind Rick, as they initially dealt with Matilda!!!
My heart melted with the love, joy, devotion, understanding, support CASKETT shared!!! I so often share with my children, their spouses/partner, and my grandchildren how much my parents, their grand- and great-grandparents, would love and are so proud of and happy for them!!! I'm ok with the dress, and she looks great in the dress. It is a couture dress from a couture magazine. It is not going to be traditional. And, it could have been much more out there. Loved the episode. Do not hate or love the dress. I just felt they could of done so much more with the beautiful Stana. I really enjoy watching how attuned and in sync our fave couple is this year. Awesome season this year. This was one episode that makes you feel good. So much greatness overall. My favorite part was Kate and Rick at the end and her telling him what she was feeling. Kate even beginning of season 5 had trouble being that open and honest with telling Rick her feelings. And I just love how he knew something was up and how supportive he is. They are both so excited to start their lives as a married couple. One thing that made me chuckle was Espo looking at Castle and saying Beckett and then Castle saying he's Castle. But that scene just goes to show how close they all are, especially Rick and Kate. They are Caskett, they go together, they are two but one, they are interchangeable. Right now they are Beckett and Castle and soon they will be Castle and Castle and then they'll really be interchangeable on name. The dress...well, not sure. Jury's still out. Didn't like it but don't hate it. Love the top part just gorgeous fabric. But the bottom, to quote Zoe on Firefly episode Shindig, "too much frufura". But then again it's couture. One thing I did notice though, in our victim's sketch book they found, look closely as they flip the pages and the one dress looks very similar to the one Kate modeled. Interesting, don't you think? Great episode overall. Since she's rarely there I just assumed she has the super, if there is one, or a neighbor bring in any packages that might be delivered there, and mail too so it doesn't sit in her box. Yes I was thinking the same thing about the box in her apartment, then I got to thinking that she gave someone like the neighbor a key to her apartment since she works funny hours. Because of Matilda's kindness, Kate now has one of the most coveted wedding gowns. Like it or not, women would kill for the dress and Kate has it. In her mind, it is priceless. And she loves it and the sentiment from Matilda. When did Kate's mom get murdered? Jan of '99? That is the reason Kate turned down the big spread. Her heart just wasn't in it. Wonderful Episode! They just need to be careful to keep a good mix between case and Caskett. But oh...... what a great show. Throw tomatoes or don't……… I really liked the dress…… and when I get a minute -- I might even try to explain why. That is all. :-) Nathan nailed the end scene. I love how much Castle has matured since the season one playboy. I know, I know. Rick the playboy is a personae to sell books, it is his public Page 6 face, and we've seen the nine year old on a sugar rush throughout the series, but last night we got to see the dad, the head of household, the future husband, the father figure, and it was subtle and sublime. Loved it. I just kind of assumed that people would love that dress. Boy was I wrong! Over all I think if that dress was part of a plot to elicit a strong reaction, they certainly got that. I made some observations about the dress and things people want, in general, and I want to share them here. The outer skirt is not made of tulle as many people think. It is made of an under-layer of satin, topped with organza. It is my personal opinion that the out skirt might possibly be removable. If so, might there be a slit up one or both sides? That would be remarkable indeed. There are a few of you on here that may know I am a floral designer by trade. All of this discussion about the dress got me thinking about the decision process. Now of course this is just a TV show, but as with everything they do on the Castle set, attention to detail is all important. Some of the things I make, Like rose dozens are very easy and generally require little thought or time. But when a special occasion arises, that is when customer service has to be the best. I realized, about a year ago when I started participating in improv sessions, that much of customer service requires improvisational skills. There had to have been a lot of discussions between the designer, producers, and writers, to create the kind of gown that someone like Kate would fall in love with at first sight. Of course Beckett didn't go looking for the dress, the dress found her. But that kind of thing does happen more than people might think. In my dealings with brides, graduates, bereaved, even corporate customer, it requires a great deal of questioning, suggestions, and most important listening. When designers listen carefully, great things happen. I think a great deal of listening happened in the designing of the gown. It has been reported and is obvious, the gown was very expensive, and I just can't see that kind of money being spent for something that is going to get ignored. In the first scene between Castle, Beckett and Martha, Beckett laments the nature of bridal magazines, saying they are too girly. I think that for Kate, when she finally saw herself in that gown, she not only remembered her mother, she remembered the happily romantic young woman she used to be. In the end, I'm just saying, I hope we will see something great come out of Kate having the dress. Throw tomatoes or don't……… I really liked the dress…… and when I get a minute -- I might even try to explain why. That is all. :-) Why didn't you say something Monday night? I would have loved to hear your opinion on this. You were too quiet. Sent from my SCH-I605 using proboards It is really nice to see how comfortable Castle and Beckett have become with each other. The opening and ending scenes in the loft always seem so heartfelt and genuine. This episode showed how much both characters have matured, Kate being open and honest about her emotions and Castle being patient and understanding. I am really interested to see how the writers handle the wedding and this season has done a great job of building toward it so far. I'm. So glad people besides me like the dress!

I'm. So glad people besides me like the dress! I liked the grey part of the dress, but still haven't decided about the train. I'm not surprised the dress looks the way it does. It's from a high fashion/haute coutre designer. I've seen pictures of clothes from high end fashion designers in magazines that I can't believe anyone would ever wear. But, apparently, people do. I love the emotion and sentiment behind Matilda giving Kate the dress. And, it's not my show, so I don't have to like the dress. Good episode. Can't get enough of our DD in love and showing it. "The Dress" well..............as long as the bride likes it. Right?!?! Nathan fan hit the nail on the head about the tulle. That has always been the sticking point for me as well. Now...let's get married ASAP! I was glad to see Matilda turn out to be a fan of Beckett and give her the dress. I have to wonder if it was out of goodness or spite! lol Arky - I had a definite LOL moment when I read your comment about the dress - "I have to wonder if it was out of goodness or spite!" Classic Castle humor , my friend! Hi everyone ! I'm FarawayRose and I'm a rookie I'm new, and delighted to be here with you all to discuss my favourite show ever I very much loved this episode and the epilogue was indeed one of the most beautiful we've had (apart from that one involving a door, that is sheepish) it was all so simple and subtle, yet there was so much love, and care and understanding flowing between Kate and Rick. It really is a joy to see how far they've come, and how they're still growing, together. As for that dress now...well, it's mixed feelings here. I just adored the body part of it, but I'm not so keen on the white sides. They drown Stana's magnificent silhouette and they make the dress far too "princessy". Of course it's a couture gown, it's unique and most certainly dreadfully expensive, as anything couture goes, but still, a tad too "Charming and his Bride" for me. However, I am now wondering if that "princessy" trait wasn't maybe intentional on the creators' side. Just to show how, despite her grounded, non nonsense usual persona, Kate is, deep down, a girl too. A "girly" girl with dreams and fantasies, like any other girl. It's just to see that incredibly sweet and moving moment, when Kate looks at herself in the mirror, just before her mood changes thinking of her Mom, and her smile is just one of giddy happiness, you just expect to see her flailing any moment ! That happy, giddy grin is worth the whole scene itself (wonderful Stana, she's so underrated as an actress, her performances are always flawless...) Well, that's all for now, I hope you forgive any grammar/syntax etc...mistake. As much as I would love it, English isn't my maternal language... Aye .... So, gently bear with me and feel free to correct me before I make a fool of myself, alright ? I'll be counting on you ! Farawayrose, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the Epilogue thread! We're always glad to welcome new contributors and it sure doesn't look like you have any problems expressing yourself. You did a great job! I liked the dress for the most part. the skirt part is a bit wild, but eh. I was a bit surprised that TPTB let them say that this will be her dress and not a very middle America traditional white confection. the audience for this show is not NY fashionistas, I would have expected the show to have her tell Matilda thank you, but I can't in person. But that's one of the reasons that the show succeeds, not playing to a very tightly targeted demo, but trying to tell good stories about good characters. Hi everyone ! I have a question about the end scene. When Kate comes in I could swear after listening and watching over and over that she says "Castle, we have to talk". But my closed captioning says, "Babe, we have to talk". What did the rest of you hear? If I don't hear from anyone I guess I will just have to watch the end scene some more. LOL Kman: Thanks for putting the dates together about the magazine offer. I never thought of that being the year Kate's mom was murdered. Yet another reason why I love these boards. So many of you catch things like that one that I never would have put together myself. Kman: Thanks for putting the dates together about the magazine offer. Except that she wouldn't have been posing for the magazine photos at the time her mother died. A fashion magazine's January issue would have hit newsstands & mailboxes the last week of December, with the photo shoot probably around Thanksgiving. It would have been awful for Kate to see her photos all dressed up and smiling when her mother had just been killed, but that can't be the reason she turned it down. I suspect even then she decided college was more important; she wanted to be a lawyer, not a model. I have a question about the end scene. At least that's what I heard. Well put. A mangled Castle. Definitely two syllables. Surprised it wasn't fixed in post production. Excellent episode and cannot wait how close we are getting to the actual wedding. Need to start compiling the guest list I wonder if Castle will invite both his exes to the wedding. Well put. A mangled Castle. Definitely two syllables. Surprised it wasn't fixed in post production. It came through clearly as babe on my recording. Beckett starts to exhale and it kind of catches as a "k" sound, then she says "babe" in the middle of exhaling. Seems like they give us about one per episode lately. A cute change from Castle all the time. Come on wedding! I am available to officiate. This is truly unimportant but fun to speculate!!! I’m curious about what you think!!! I wonder whether or not the same actress, Senta MOSES, played an uncredited (?!) role in 6x14, DRESSED TO KILL and a small part in 2x14 THE THIRD MAN!!! Please correct me, if I am mistaken!!! In DRESSED TO KILL, did Senta MOSES play the witness/seamstress coming off her shift who confirmed that that the man in the sketch was outside the Bartway Coffee Shop (Marcus CONWAY of MODERN FASHION rival COURTURE CHIC, there to meet the fired, murdered Matilda KING assistant, Ella HAYES) when she/the witness/seamstress walked by and, as fabric is her business, he was wearing a suit and a striped tie—and in THE THIRD MAN, 2X14, the young woman, Miss Michele LANGFORD, whose squatter repaired her faucet and left the cheap, strawberry Champagne—as Miss LANGFORD, Senta MOSES also tells CASTLE that the newspaper photo does him no justice and, speculating that BECKETT is “the detective girlfriend,” she informs Kate that he is “such a catch”!!! I also wonder whether or not Ivo NANDI played Teodor Hayek in 2x05 WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS and in 3x15 THE FINAL NAIL, played the contractor with the nail gun!!!
