I think you hit the nail on the head! I've kinda had it with the revolving door firefly guests, and I like Firefly. Loved Martha and the boys reaction to her being in the bed. I hated that Kate forgot date night, she's worked so hard to be good enough for him, band ABC is using all they can to destroy that. Well, I loved your review, I'll miss them ?

Good review. These last few episodes continue to feel like the old Castle. Loved how the team continues to solve murders. I agree, Martha was like her old self again, and coming to see Kate, to me, validates her trust and love for Kate. For some reason, if they had written Alexis doing that, it wouldn't feel the same. The scenes between Rick and Kate were great. If their screen time is limited, I wouldn't mind as long as they continue having quality scenes like these. I'm sure something could've been worked out for S9! And you're right....only in TV can you survive that kind of shootout!

Nicely done, as always. With the magic gone from the show, I actually dozed off for the first time ever during the show. I won't be watching the finale so only one more epi to go for this fan. A sad time indeed.

A sad time indeed. I agree with you, geezer. For me the magic is gone too. I keep remembering that Beckett is going to be killed and it's difficult to enjoy watching. I'm also with you in not watching the finale, and with just one episode left. But I will read your review of the finale, Christine, even though I probably won't watch anything else related to it.

Geezer: I thought it was just me but I could not get interested in Monday nights episode. Every time I saw Stana I kept thinking how horribly ABC treated both her and Tamala. I still don't know if I will watch the final episode. I cannot for the life of me figure any other way it will end except killing Kate. I was at work today in the lunch room and they had on TNT with Castle and the episode was the one when she broke down with her PTSD. The scene was when Javi gave her the rifle that she was shot with and the acting by both of them was so powerful that all I kept thinking was that the fans will never see the Always they have been anticipating for the last 8 years. Stana was so awesome in that episode and I still can't believe she was basically fired.

I have to admit that I did not watch the episode. I will see it next week when I return home. But I loved your review. It makes me happy that it was well received, but just frosts my Cherrios that two lines just really pour salt on the wound. Now I begin to wonder...is ABC gauging Stana's worth to the show? Since the much publicized stories of Stana's Contract not being renewed were leaked long before they should have been, is ABC up to something? Are they using the fans reactions to see if Beckett means more to this show then they are letting on? Is there an alternative ending floating around somewhere? I would really be pissed off if this was all a publicity stunt to get sympathetic ratings for the rest of the season.
Any who....great job as always Christine!

I don't see how releasing the news about firing Stana helps ABC at all. It's made a percentage of the fans quit watching the show - even reruns. I've heard some say they will never watch ABC again. It seems more likely that Stana's camp leaked it to turn public opinion against ABC and maybe work up enough support to get her rehired or perhaps ruin the chances of it going on without her.

It seems more likely that Stana's camp leaked it to turn public opinion against ABC and maybe work up enough support to get her rehired or perhaps ruin the chances of it going on without her. You bring up some key points and it's a good argument. My view is that do we know that Stana's camp leaked the stories? Maybe they did or they didn't. ABC could have made some calls to the press. If you want see what the public reaction is, then mess the world up and see how it settles. They could have easily done this. It's not Stana's nature to be vindictive, in fact, she has been nothing but gracious, so if it's her agent, well, let's just say that that is not the kind of agent I want. And the ratings have not dropped at all. They are very steady as a matter of fact. They are the solid number 2 at that 10 pm time slot and I think they were 7 overall in Monday night ratings last week, so not so bad. I realize that so many fans were turned off, but many fans remain loyal to the end. The next two weeks belong to Castle on Monday Nights as the NCIS LA season finale was on this past Monday. And to be fair, many people said that they could have done something better to close out the year. The Blindspot has the demo, but not the viewers. Castle has actually had some good shows. So, the crappy showrunners are going to stick their chests out the next two weeks and say, "See, we told you that this show is better now than ever. Look at all the people watching." How satisfying for them. They are watching because soon Caskett will be gone of course, but these two have played spin doctor all season, so why stop now. They need to feed their egos and let themselves believe that this is all because of them. If anything, Caskett saved Castle for season 9. None of this makes sense. You should always back your horse. So I am just wondering if something is going on behind the scenes. But make no mistake, I am a realist. SADLY Now, some of the staff has jumped ship and moved on. They don't feel this is worth it. It all points to ABC not rehiring Stana. I would be a fool to tell you that Stana will be back. I am dumb, but not stupid. LOL..... I am just saying that we don't know the entire story here and until all the truth about the rumors surface, I am open to anything. Remember, ABC has a new person running the show now, so in my lame attempt to see some sunlight here, I am holding on to the crazy notion that maybe ABC might be willing to admit that they made a mistake with Stana. But of course, I am not holding my breath. I liked your view though. And I can see it.

Well there have been lots of rumors. Maybe we will never know the full story. Was Stana not asked back because she indicated last year that she would only sign on for one more year or perhaps she could have been vocal about not wanting to come back throughout this season? Did the showrunners have something to do with her not being asked back or were they in the dark as well? They were vocal early on about plans to continue Castle if one or both stars failed to return. I can think of tons of possibilities for how it could have all gone down and who knew what and who leaked what but for now we remain in the dark.
I'm surprised the fate of the show hasn't been announced yet. Does that mean Nathan hasn't signed on or ABC just hasn't made a decision or what? They should be putting the final editing on the season finale very soon so they surely know what they are going to do.

If it's one thing Castle has taught it's viewers , it's to think outside the box. I think they still aren't sold on season 9... But they are leading towards it. I wonder if any advertisers will follow them ? Some trained Chimp is throwing darts at 2 endings and an alternative one....I, like you, felt that if Stana indicated that she may not come back, then she may have ruffled some feathers and unfairly paid the price. But to tell you the truth , I have seen General Managers in Baseball turn and walk away from what they felt was unfair and, in their eyes, unrealistic expectations on contracts. So...as they say ... Somebody has to pay the price....and in this case, it was Stana.

Great review as always. I think I pretty much felt the same way about the episode. I enjoyed this one, maybe the second or third time this season I can say that. And that whole scene with Sara Grace was just too adorable.
