For years Bones and Castle were compared and I always thought that Castle was the better show. That it had better chemistry between the leads and the stories were more fun, plus I never enjoyed the gore on Bones. Boy how the tables have turned. Bones also had two new show runners this season and although the first couple of episodes had me questioning the direction they were taking, it’s turned out to be one of the best seasons of the show. Even though David Boreanaz (For those who don’t watch, he’s Seeley Booth, one of the two leads) needed additional time off this season, it was rarely felt on screen. The show simply expanded more on the other core characters, giving them meatier storylines and when Booth was on screen they made those scenes count by having him paired with onscreen wife and partner Dr. Temperance Brennan much of the time. Booth and Brennan are now happily married with two children. The baby, Hank, isn’t seen much but 5-year-old little Christine is seen in several episodes and the happy family moments really add to my enjoyment of the show as a whole. Last night Bones began a new end-of-the-season serial killer story arc. I knew it was coming and wasn’t overly excited about it. I mean, the show’s been on for 11 seasons. How many ways can you find to make a serial killer interesting? Well, in my opinion, they hit this one out of the park. It’s suspenseful, creepy fun and has the entire team involved in the case. I can’t wait for more. FOX has said that season 12 will be Bones last and they’ve given the show 12 episodes to wrap up. It’s everything that Castle should have been but wasn’t.

I agree with you about the shows. Early on the Bones writers just didn't get how to get them together. I was so frustrated that I didn't watch for a couple of seasons. Then they just got them together boom. They did much better once they were together. How the tables have turned.

I watched some episodes some seasons ago and I did like the cases, but then I started watching Castle and for me there's no comparison in terms of chemistry between the leads and of how the love story grew. I stopped watching Bones but maybe I should go back and start watching again :-)

Castle will always be my favorite, I just think that as far as moving the characters and story forward and wrapping up the series, it appears that the Bones team got it right.

I really wish Castle could have had the Bones writers and showrunners. I never liked the Temperance character, but Bones always did such a great job of giving secondary characters backstories and storylines without losing sight of the main characters. I liked all the characters on Castle much better but after about 4 seasons the stories and writing started declining and continue to decline.

We are also Bones fans. They have stayed true to the story and we enjoy all but the gore. They never had the chemistry of Caskett, but they're still there.

I've been a Bones fan for years but when Castle came along I lost a little of my enthusiasm for it but now, watching the current series, it's an example that the Castle writers should have followed. Bones and Booth have a joyous marriage but it doesn't get in the way of the story. Such a shame that my absolute favourite programme couldn't have been that way instead of the awful situation it's now in.

Once I get the satellite up and working I need to catch up on lots of finals and this episode of Bones.

Once I get the satellite up and working I need to catch up on lots of finals and this episode of Bones. Because they gave Bones such a long winter hiatus, it has new episodes running until mid-July. Then season 12 won't air until mid-season next year.
