Article on Kelly Ripa

NPR did a great piece on Kelly Ripa's situation at ABC. There's a brief mention of Stana that was part of a reference to important women being let go in tv this season. But I thought the focus of the article, on how it's important to stand up for oneself, even against a mega-giant like ABC, would being some of us some comfort. It's pretty clear most corporate networks think very little of their employees and fans right now, and we in turn, feel powerless. As the article says, if Kelly Ripa can't command any respect, what does that mean for the rest of us?

OKay, what'm I missing? What's going on with Michael & Kelly?

Since we discontinued cable, my TV knowledge of other goings-on is non-existent.

I don't watch the show either, but saw the news as I was scouring the internet for news on Castle last week.

Apparently, Kelly's co-host, Michael Strahan, accepted a full-time position at Good Morning America, and no one thought to tell Kelly he would be leaving in a few weeks. She found out much the way Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever found out about Stana, and she was not happy at all. She didn't show up for work the next two days, and then had a pretty big meeting with ABC execs to express her feelings about how she was treated.

It was just another example in a very short amount of time of a pretty important woman in television being treated like crap by the people calling the shots.

Well, at least ABC apologized to Kelly. No such luck for Stana and Tamala
