Wow. What a great episode. The whole cast outdid themselves. And I love how invested Gates was--she's become the 12th's leader. Jan 6, 2014 23:21:45 GMT -5 @castbeck101 said:
This episode and Disciple were the best of the season so far. Wonderful job by all the actors especially Seamus and Jon. Bravo! Intense, suspenseful, you name it. This eppy had it. What a great episode! Seamus and Jon were so great, and the rest of the cast as well. Like RG, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how they were going to get Ryan and Espo out of there. And Juliana.....she was just heart-breaking. I do hope we get to see more of her this year.
And as has often been mentioned before....Stana Katic can say more with a look than many actors do with a whole page of dialog. You could just feel how hopeless and helpless Kate felt by watching Stana's face.
Season 6 is definitely shaping up to be the best ever!
Glad it was good for you RG !

It's Ukranian Christmas eve, and a friend online pointed out today is Irish "little Christmas" too. Very appropriate for the birth of the Ryan baby. Jan 6, 2014 23:48:18 GMT -5 @tiff098765 said:
I agree with RG! It made me cry!The entire Castle team hit it out of the park with this awesome episode! And how on earth can anyone not think that Ryan and Esposito are the BEST bromance on TV?? Seamus Dever - Emmy winning performance, my man!
Emotion. Emotion. Emotion. Let's start with Gates. The sense of urgency and concern that Penny was able to inject in her dialogue left no doubt in your mind that these were HER people and that she cared deeply for them. Then, there's Lanie. Not only did she leave no doubt that Javi was her #1 concern, but she also showed such compassion for Jenny and what she was facing. Juliana Dever was outstanding, especially when you consider the fact that she pretty much walks in cold and pulls off that heart wrenching performance.
Castle's emotion was on his sleeve too. The time when he put his hand to his face and the times that he had to turn away showed how deeply he was affected. He also had a strong sense of urgency, especially when he was talking to Gates about there being an escape route. Kate brought me to tears when her voice broke as she was on the phone with Ryan and she said, "We thought you were dead." As usual, Stana's fantastic facial expressions also communicated her feelings so perfectly.
However, I have to say that in my opinion, even these great performances were topped by Seamus and Jon. First, it was Esposito doing everything he could to free his partner and try to save them. Then Seamus had me bawling like a baby as he talked with Jenny and they chose a name for their child. As I said earlier, definitely an Emmy worthy performance! Javi had a great line after that about naming a white, Irish kid Javier. I was gulping for air and heaving the sobs by the time they were all reunited at the ambulance and I'm not a bit ashamed to say so! The acting, the camera work, the music - they grabbed my heart and squeezed it tonight in a most beautiful way!

Wait, there was a pregant girl show up on The Bachelor? What a way to steal Jenny's thunder. Wow. Finally got my breath back. Awesome. I loved Gates and Castle bouncing theory back and forth over the phone. What a way we've come. Also Seamus and Jon...just wow. The acting from everyone tonight was incredible. Was one special episode.
One word, EPIC. By far one of the best this season. And, one of the best of the series.
Wow!!! How I love and appreciate 6x11 UNDER FIRE!!!--every aspect--what each and all of you have celebrated--the intensity, the acting, the cinematography, the music, the sets and special effects, lighting, the wardrobe and makeup--writing, direction, production, editing...congratulations, entire CASTLE team!!! Love every relationship underlined and developed and every sweet and poignant quote!!! For every word, thought, look, layer, and nuance, Stana, Nathan, Penny, Tamala, Jon, Seamus, and Juliana--thank you!!! Loved the wedding date play on words and convo; believing that Jenny could greet a Javier RYAN; that CASTLE and GATES could spin theory; the heartbreaking Jenny-Kevin phone call; RYSPOSITOS courageous, supportive, and resourceful struggles to save one another and to survive; and every relationship-revealing look and word CASKETT exchanged while focused on saving their endangered family; reunion embraces; and RYAN and everyone meeting Sarah Grace!!!
Awesome episode one of the best of series, best cast, everyone did a spectacular job. Truly this goes into the top ten of best episodes. I especially loved Gates, Penny was great, everyone was great, can't wait to see it again.
hey Castle buddies! It's been a while since I stopped by, so I wanted to check in I had to come by and say last night's Castle episode was great! Ryan and Espo have always been my favorites, and last night just made me love them even more. What made it even better was how Seamus and Juliana are really husband and wife I have to say, it cracked me up how Ryan was willing to name a white boy Javier. It's a good thing it was a girl
I just have to add a couple more comments after watching again this morning. I loved the scene near the end when Castle is on the phone with Gates and they're sort of building theory together. How far they've come! Both had such an intensity and singleness of purpose.
Also, after seeing that video a couple of years ago of Robert Duncan searching through junk yards for items that he could add to his studio to create unique sounds, I could totally picture him pulling a bow across some piece of metal junk to create some of the amazing sounds he used in last night's score. He's a master!
I went back and read the live tweets from Seamus and Juliana from last night and was delighted that Kate's quip about "marrying that guy" as Castle rushed out of the building, was an ad lib that Stana came up with. I was also impressed that the whole explosion and fire was real. I would guess this was a bigger budget episode with all of the emergency vehicles and extras that were needed.
I was happy that Kevin and Jenny had a girl - not because of naming a white Irish kid Javier - but because I can totally picture Ryan wrapped around the finger of that baby girl, much the same as Castle was with Alexis. Ryan and Castle are already very close and I think this will be another point of bonding.
What a wonderful way to kick off the second half of the season!
Just watched the episode a second time, this time with my girls. I cried just as much this time as I did last night.
What an amazing episode! The relationship between Espo and Ryan is one of the best parts of this show. LOVED the part when Castle was building theory with Gates. She was respectful of and valued his opinion. I've been waiting a long time for that.
Stana's acting last night was awesome! I so love how Beckett has softened this season. She can still be tough, but she's not holding it all inside anymore. Loved that she called Castle "babe."
Watching Juliana last night was wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time. The scenes between her and Seamus were the ones that made me cry the most. Love the name - Sarah Grace. And Javier's line about naming a white Irish kid Javier was just too funny.
The sets, the music, that fire! The whole crew just knocked it out of the park last night. What a way to kick off the second half of the year! Can't wait for more.

This is one to watch over and over, with so many little tells about the characters throughout. Like when the boys were brought out:yes, everyone hugged, but the first hugs were between the closest--Kate and Javier, and Castle and Ryan. How Kate tried to break it gently to Jenny, but did not try to hide the truth from her. It goes on and on. All stayed true to their characters throughout, in ways both large and small. A testament to the writers, director and cast. They all got it right.Where did she call Castle "babe"? I missed it.
She calls him, "Babe" when he's sitting at her computer looking up the video of the fire. It's quick but it's definitely audible.
How could they do this to me? I had a great holiday. I'm recharged and ready to go bust some arse in 2014. Christmas lights are down, New Year resolutions are resolving, devilish grins a grinning. Turn on Castle for some fun and WHAM! Emotionally crippled. Tears. I'm gonna need several #shutthefrontdoor episodes just to get my mojo back. All happy and festive and they go and smack me right between the eye. Heck, I can hear the cast snickering as I'm reduced to a puddle of emotional goo.
#bestseasonever
Java, my friend, you are not alone!

Glad everyone enjoyed it. I thought it was good, but not great. There have been several other episodes this season that I liked better. This episode is not in the discussion of a top 5 for me ... to each their own.Jan 8, 2014 15:33:46 GMT -5 @vanarnd1 said:
I really liked the tone of the episode and the way each of the characters showed their emotions. Gates in the precinct really seemed shell shocked at first, but pulled it to together to rally everybody. The worry and helplessness Kate and Rick showed outside the building as time went on, Jenny's resolve to not leave the scene, and of course the desperation of Ryan and Espo in the building. All the dramatic scenes in the second half of the episode were really done. One of the things that always stands out about Castle is the strong bond between the entire team, and this episode was a perfect example of that.
