Why is it these titles seem so cryptic in view of the news about Stana? Last week was "Backstabber" and this week "Dead Again."
.......... heavy sigh ............
The sneak peeks indicate some humor in the episode so I'm hoping to find some semblance of joy in there. Please join in the discussion afterwards if you watch the episode.

Given the many attempts (fortunately unsuccessful) on Alan, the episode title makes sense.
A so-so episode. It had its moments. It was fun to see Alan popping back up from each attempt on his life. Loved the firs time when Lanie dropped her clipboard.
We had a lovely opening Caskett scene. It's been a while since we've seen any real romance between them. And it was fun to see them coming to the same conclusion and speaking at the same time. There've been a couple of these little nods to the show's history in the last few weeks, but unfortunately it's too little too late at this point. I also thought the moment between Alan and Lanie was cute.
I got a little lost along the way with all the intricacies of the case, which is nothing new. I didn't guess at Gwen being the killer.
I could possibly be a bit more invested in the movement on Loksat if we didn't know what we know about Stana. As it is, it all feels like a retread of the whole Bracken storyline. Only with a likely worse ending.

Will wonders never cease? We didn't have a victim tonight - though heaven knows Gwen tried! Three close calls but Alan remained with us. This was one of those episodes where the guest cast really made it for me. It reminds me of the Nose, the time traveler and the Russian agent we had a few episodes ago. I believe the actor is Jonathan Silverman and his portrayal of Alan was wonderful IMO. I also enjoyed seeing Lanie have a bit more of a role and I have to admit to getting the giggles when she had misdiagnosed Alan the second time. Talk about a bad day! It was a hoot that Lanie and Alan mirrored Castle and Kate in building theory and it's kind of fun to think of them dating a time or two. I really enjoyed that whole aspect of the story. Like last week, it felt very obvious that Castle and Kate weren't doing scenes together. The opening was nice and it did establish a bit of a theme in that Castle tried to convince Alan to seize the opportunity and do something adventurous now, just as he was suggesting he and Kate should do. It did somewhat reflect back on the 2 of them promising that they'd never become boring but I really can't say that I see anything wrong with normal. I'd have loved to see them as a normal married couple. One important Caskett detail for me was that Kate did tell Castle about her first visit from Caleb Brown. Thank goodness there are no more secrets. Which brings me to the return of the LokSat story line. Who the hell even remembers or cares? ?? When Vikram first came to Kate with a new break, I wondered how many viewers would even remember what he was talking about. It's been left by the wayside for so long that it's hard to get riled up about it now and it feels very much like old news. IMO this story line should have been permanently wrapped up with the beautiful scene outside the courthouse as Bracken was being taken away. It had been dragged out plenty long by then anyway. So, I see how they're setting up possibilities for the finale. Once again, I'm sending up prayers for a cancellation and a salvageable ending.

Barring a miracle ....... Looks like I'm waiting for the "finale" for my last take on Castle. Nothing in between " the news" and then seems to matter anymore ! Sorry, can't seem to get the vomit taste out of my mouth.

I thought this was a really good episode. I'll probably even watch it again. I wish all of season 8 had been more like it. I loved the Jonathon Silverman character and the fact he couldn't die. I actually thought he was really dead the last time. It was pretty funny. Loved them trying to come up with a superhero name and testing for spidey senses. Lots of good lines in this one. "...no, but Castle has a theory!" I don't think Kate eye-rolled but I think she wanted to. I like that Castle and Beckett theorized at the same time again, then when Lanie and Alan do it Kate says "I hope we don't sound like that". "I never thought she was right for you" after Gwen shoots Alan.
I loved finally seeing a little more of Lanie and glad Hayley and Alexis were absent. Frankly I was glad there weren't any awkward kisses and talk of wild sex. I'd much rather they talk about future plans or about their day or just make dinner together.
As usual lots of plot holes. Castle is roaming around at will in the lab, mixing up experiments and having techs describe what are probably confidential experiments. Later he's with the police but goes off on his own. Of course none of that is unusual. Why exactly are they calling Beckett about a body drop? Don't the detectives go to those then brief the captain? It seems like they keep forgetting she is supposed to be a captain. Beckett goes from never hearing of TTX before to knowing that small amounts are used in Eastern medicine. The whole Loksat thing makes no sense to me. Why would Caleb show up and just verify that eveything they believe about his alias is true just to deliver an idle threat and then in 30 seconds Beckett convinces him to switch to their side. yawn. I was hoping he would just show up and say he was Loksat and it would be over. Doesn't Castle live in a secure building? How did Caleb get in and help himself to the good scotch?
Anyway, put the recent news out of your mind and enjoy this episode.

This episode was all right. Loved Lanie and her interactions with everyone. When Kate grabbed her and started walking with her....an "awe" moment that I'm going to miss seeing. They really should've given Tamala more to do in this show. Jonathon Silverman was great, but the goofiness between him and Castle were beginning to be a bit overwhelming. One Castle is enough, but two? Even though Caskett was lacking, at least it seems Rick and Kate are talking more. Not knowing how the show is going to end, seems like they're trying to set it up that either they ride off into the sunset, or something bad is going to happen. It was kind of weird to have a silly, light episode with some seriousness together.

Too much goofy-doofus Castle...some of that is just fine. At times, almost like an audition video for some comedy series.

After reading that this was Rob's last episode to write and with Andrew and Terri tweeting thank you. I decided to watch. I think we just saw our last episode of the Castle we came to know and love. We were laughing out loud and had smiles for most of the episode. Too bad they had to waste the time on the idiotic LocSat plot. I know one of the big reasons I loved this show was that it wasn't dark. It seems like every procedural is just so dark and depressing. Finally a show that respected death but made sure to let us laugh about life. TPTB at ABC must be sad depressing people if they think that is what people want to see after a hard day at work. For me, I want to escape reality and find something to smile about. Rob said he was headed over to CBS writing for Hawaii 5-O. Ahh how things have changed. They tried to take Castle on and ended up moving to a new night. Well, Castle has died a slow death and they continue on with one of our good writers. I am glad to see him find a new job.

Me too, I watch Madam Secretary and former Castle writers are there - David Grae and Moira Kirland are producers and writers, I am hoping to see Stana head to Madam Secretary as a Senator, I can dream....

I agree wholeheartedly about not wanting to watch dark shows. The news is plenty depressing enough without having to watch depressing, gruesome, barbaric shows. There are very few shows that are light hearted without being a sitcom - although Castle has left behind the witty, sophisticated humor in favor of pratfalls and fart jokes.

I think that ABC forgot was that Beckett was kinda Dark before she met Castle. He showed her the light side of life. He challenged her. He made her laugh, he dried her tears. He listened to her story. He never pushed her, but he never left her. He let her understand that there was someone willing to stand beside her, no matter what, and that made her happy. She knew she could depend on him. It helped her to understand that maybe the world wasn't such a dark place. Rick brought her back to life. She opened his eyes as well and although she ran from her feelings, she understood that she could never let go. That challenge of push and pull between them is what made this show and these two characters so great. No matter how dark it may have seemed, they always knew together, they could make that sun shine bright. How could ABC forget such a simple thing. The sun rises and sets everyday, but happiness and love is a 24/7 thing. I will miss that.
