So ladies wasn't the last 5 minutes AWESOME? Everyone still with me? The end scene had be creeped right out!!!I agree with your assessment, Queen! WOW! What a story! The combination of David Amann and Rob Bowman pretty much ensures awesomeness and this episode did not disappoint in any way. I'm also a big fan of meaningful titles and I love "Disciple" because it has a creepy connotation and it leaves so much open to speculation.
It was a fun start with the discussion of a honeymoon trip and a wedding date. I felt that both Kate and Castle were excited about it and they followed the theme of last week by wanting to go somewhere that was new to both of them, creating their own fresh memories. Too bad Castle was so widely traveled with his exes, but I'm sure that they'll come up with something warm and wonderful in due time.
This story was downright CREEPY but very intriguing. It also leaves a lot of doors open for future episodes. I liked the way Gates took over when this became a serial killer case. She continues to impress me as a wise leader who is also being sensitive with her people when it counts. I especially loved when she left the observation room so Lanie and Espo could have some privacy.
This was definitely a shining moment for Tamala Jones. She nailed the emotion in every scene she had and we never get to see that kind of depth from her. Her voice control was outstanding, as were her facial expressions. Jon Huertas also did a great job and I thought they did a nice job of keeping him in character when he didn't want to talk about his feelings with Ryan. It was a really touching moment between the two when Espo promised he wouldn't let anything happen to her and Lanie worried about something happening to him. We find out that she hasn't been with any other guys so maybe this will be the catalyst that brings them back together.
Castle was definitely at the top of his game in this one. You could tell that he had suspicions about 3XK's involvement before there was a definite indication of that. It was cute when he muttered "Told you" into his coffee cup. His theories were right on. He also got to do a take down in the motel parking lot - his reward for not arguing with Kate when she told him to stay behind. Too bad that his "Pretty Boy" face only had "potential." Such a blow to the ego! AND may I also say that Kate in the red leather jacket and Castle in the red shirt made one helluva fine looking duo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a creepy ending with the chilling note and then the discovery of the song. Kate's reaction was particularly strong. I know they won't revisit this story arc until late in the season, if at all, but I sure do look forward to where they go from here. Now we have 2 possible recurring characters and the stakes are much higher. Well done, Team Castle!

I can only add that, as I did not want to share my cold/cough with friends, I watched CASTLE by myself tonight!!! This prompted terrified me to text my adult children and several friends that I am soooo frightened that I will be moving in with them for a few days!!! Joke!!! Joke!!! :)All superlatives for 6x09 DISCIPLE!!!
This plot really thickened quick tonight. Did you think the security guy did it? I had no clue till it was revealed. The Revelation that it was Jerry again was not unexpected, but everyone thinks he is dead. How naive.
2 Body clones of Espo and Lanie , a crime orchestrated by Jerry with the immature attitude of "In Your Face Castle", just wanted to let everyone know that I am still around, and now I am free and will come after you and Kate again. He just doesn't know when to stop. Kate not wanting to believe the inevitable, that yes indeed, it is Tyson, and now with a partner who is equally as sinister as he was, sorry...he is not dead.
Again, we go back to season 3. New twist. Doctor/Lover/Killer? Wow!!
Different stooge, but willing to spend his life in prison for Jerry. Same hotel, same room....come on Kate...you know it's him. Again...Castle just kicking ass and coming up a day late and a dollar short. Frustration is everywhere in this one. And Espo and Lanie are something, just not sure what. Espo needed to know things and was part cop, part loving , but also there was a hardness about him. He took this personally and will not forget this. Aim for the head Espo.
But in the interrogation room, Rick and Kate were at their best. They were "Money". A true team. They played the game well and bluffed the poor schmoe.Or did they? He was willing to sing like a canary. So who knows?
Castle and Beckett are bound by the two cases that caused them much pain and frustration. It is now obvious that the two will always have each others back. They are strong together and powerless apart. It is to both Bracken's and Tyson's advantage to separate the two if they are to have a chance to kill them so they can be free to thrive in the manor with which they are accustomed to.
This show was brilliant. The "Disciple" did his master's bidding. Body Doubles sculpted by the plastic surgeon quietly did their jobs, thus setting free the diabolically cold and calculating Tyson. He wasn't there, but we felt his presence. And Castle knew it. He was silent concerning his thoughts so as not to antagonize a skeptical Beckett, but even she could not escape the slap in the face delivered by the 3XK crew as they put the NYPD in the awkward position of acknowledging the status quo. Jerry Tyson is dead. The killer was caught. Dr. Nieman had flown the coup, and two NYPD employees were not responsible for not checking out files that don't exist, and were not stolen. PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY. Jerry Tyson put them all on notice. I am back, but I don't exist.
And now, he has a girl friend. Equally as deadly. Equally as arrogant. Reminds me of Meredith. And she wants to kill Kate. She has become Beckett's worst nightmare because she is inside her head. A woman who has the hots for the attractive Beckett, who tells her she is exquisite, and would love to enhance her more. Take her to the next level, as it were. We all know how these things effect her. This is a very formidable opponent for Castle and Beckett and that creepified song we heard at the end of the show tells us that the stage is set for the final showdown. Only this time it's two against two. Jerry has tried everything to outwit the brilliant Castle. He has this love hate relationship with Castle that has now escalated to pure jealousy, rage, and envy. He needs to be better. He needs to show him up. He has tried everything. He goes over, under, around Castle. He only has one more play. He has to go right at am now. He has to go for the artistic perfect crime kill that only he thinks he can do. Oh...Geez...he tried that last time...what a loser. He flaunts Lanie and Espo at each other. He steals the files. He has disciples everywhere.
He believes that now the tables are turned. He has the NYPD in a "Catch 22". That was the point of this episode. Embarrassment. The note says "Better Luck Next time" and it clearly infuriates and creeps Beckett out.
But give Tyson his due. His plan was sound and well thought out. He knew Castle would figure it out. He knew his disciple would play his part and he knows he has the good Doctor is his back pocket. In the end, she will go after Kate and Tyson will go after Castle. I say Bring it On. Aim for the head Rick.
But now the good news. Gates. bless her heart, has given Caskett a "License to Kill". The Top Brass NYPD Mafia Bosses have given their blessing to a discreet hit on both Tyson and the Doctor. They don't want to know. Tyson is dead and better stay dead. Gates speaks very slowly, quietly and directly. Every word is in the "stocatto" fashion, well pronounced and so low that you hear it clear as a bell. She tells Kate to give her a nod, a wink, a drink, anything to let her know someday the problem has gone away. It's the best ending. NO ONE WILL SEARCH OR SHED A TEAR FOR A MISSING PERSON THAT NO ONE MISSED AT ALL. Aim for the head. Throw the guns in the river and don't look back. Make them swim with the fish. Kate knows, like Rick, the only way to end this with their sanity and freedom in tact to to kill them. No other way. And they have Gate's blessing. I LOVE GATES NOW. She is the "GODMOTHER" (Que the mandolin and strings and play some "NYPD Family Music" please) This episode has teeth. It has jump. It was a slice of the Macob. A chapter right out of Castle's finest works. And it left us wanting to kick Tyson's ass. All of us. We want him dead too and we want Rick to do it. Ease his pain.
The ending was so Castle. No win. Pain in the gut. It left us "Twisting" in the wind. It left Kate and Rick scared to death and yet much closer together. It begs the question, how can we get married with this nutbar hanging around. Everything Kate hated about the Feds, she is about to become. She will play the game to win at all costs. They know what needs to be done. The final chapter should be epic. But this was about as Epic as it gets. It challenged our logic, our sanity, our ability to look over our shoulder and most of all it challenged the country to watch for further details.
This show tonight was both disturbing and enjoyable. Is that possible? With Castle, ALWAYS.
So....shoot for the head and set the date. Loved it. Loved It. Loved It. One of the ALL Time Greats. Should have been a two parter, but next season or season 8? I am all in.
That end scene had me creeped out.
Is everyone sure that Tyson is alive? The good doctor had a long history with him. The writers definitely left themselves room to either have it be just the Doc or both of them. Maybe Tyson was her patsy, and now that he is dead, she went on to the next one and decided to play the game herself.

This eppy was incredible. Another great favorite. Fun and creepy at the same time. I was so creeped out at the end with that song and kept thinking on the ep that I didn't go to bed til 1 AM. Kate's face was what I felt. Holy cow. That scene with Kate and the Dr was a creepy as Tyson and Castle in the jail in Probable Cause. To me the actress they had playing the Dr looked like Gina and Meredith put together, more like Meredith though, especially with the red hair. Nice symbolism and subtext there as it appears Kate is taking on both of Castle's ex wives. Notice too how we don't have a full shot of the room after the start of that scene. They really focus on each woman's face.
Also had a thought...did anyone else consider that the guy Castle tackled at the hotel that they interrogated could have been Tyson himself after the Dr did some surgery on him? He could have purposely made a mistake where the money was just to keep up the idea that he's not Tyson.

Noticed, other than the obvious hanging, that Tyson is intent on suspending his victims. All his past ones we were told about in 3XK he hung, he suspended that gal in barbed wire from the ceiling in Probable Cause, and now he hangs, just above the ground Lanie and Javi's look-a-likes.What is his motivation, other than killing, for suspending victims? Can anyone else think of sometimes other than the idea of "hanging his trophies on the wall" so he can look at and admire his work or the idea that he's suspending their souls between life and death by a traumatic death? I'm interested to see what you all think is his mind set behind it.

Such a superb episode. The observations by fellow 'board members' certainly confirms that membership here is great experience!

Or, Tyson could still be alive and is really playing a twisted mind game, that is going to force them to keep looking over their shoulders until, he chooses his moment to reappear along with the Doc, in some sort of divide and conquer type strategy.
We haven't seen Pi for a couple of episodes but they did give him a nod at the beginning with Castle making Kate a breakfast plate with the cute fruit smiley face instead of a smorelette.
As for 3XK I say Castle needs to get a hold of his assassin Daddy and have him get rid of this ghost once and for all.
I had someone ask me today why Kate was upset at the end with the song. She thought it was her Mother's voice. I told her that it was 3XK telling them he would be back and she needed to listen to the lyrics. (People without OCD sometimes need us to help them out )
One observation, the electronic records would have been backed up to multiple tapes and stored off site, possibly in multiple locations. It would have been next to impossible for the Disciple or one of her minions to delete them all.
Of course this is assuming the NYPD has a half-reasonable data security policy and practise. I would expect they do given the importance of the information for trials.
Also as a serial killer, the FBI would have had files and their own case information in physical and electronic format. Are they suggesting the FBI was compromised too?
Other than that the episode was quite well executed. I did think that their usually intuitive and accurate radar's were off and they missed types of clues and observations they often picked up on in the past.
I'm another one in the 'if-Tyson-is-alive-he's-disabled-camp' as falling into water from that height is extremely risk for a physically fit and practised high diver, let alone a person who has been shot multiple times (even if wearing a ballistic vest).

Yeah, kiwi, I agree. In reality, there would be multiple digital copies. I guess this will be one of those times we have to suspend reality & just go along with the fiction.I also assumed that Tyson choreographed the bridge scene well enough to expect when & where he'd get shot and had contingency plans. I assumed he'd already set up a safety net or something to slow his fall & an underwater jetpack to get away.

BUT why hasn't anyone mentioned the blue-eyed homeless guy in the alley? Was that Tyson watching from the shadows? Why didn't the cops try to ask him what he saw? Or was he there just to give the creepy killer a reason to act like he didn't know the lady was dead & call out to her?Awesome episode. Love season 6. Loved how the good guys didn't win this round. It's not always a happy ending but the story isn't over yet.
A BIG win for Tyson. Put me in the disabled Tyson camp. He's permenantly and severely injured which makes him even more dangerous than ever. They knocked him down but not out. He took some time to recuperate all the while scheming for revenge and he's more dangerous than ever. He's not out to kill Castle & gang. Not yet. He's out to shock and awe them. He will kill and kill and kill again all the while leaving small clues for them to wonder.
Tyson's even more of a ghost now. His injuries have probably affected his mobility and therefore the need for disciples and henchmen and his MO have evolved. He's become a mastermind, another Dragon. He's no one and everyone, nowhere and everywhere. That's the message he sent at the end. He's proven the ability to enter their homes, their workplace, their lives, and their minds. He can kill any one of them. He can drug any one of them. He can impersonate any one of them and not just by hiring actors this time. He's telling them that they are at the mercy of his malevolence.
And he will take his time. He wants an audience. He needs an audience. Right now he's killing in anonymity but what fun is that without someone to taunt? No, Tyson will kill and I suspect each killing will be even grander than the last. I do wonder if there's a master plan? He has all the case files. I wonder if he will leave a series of murders that superficially do not look connected but are all related to past cases. I wonder if he will go after the people who hunted him in the past? That would insure no one can rebuild his profile. And when the 12th is the last of his persuers, will he go after them or keep them alive? Keep the game alive?
Anyways, I think that makes a good story.
If Tyson is still alive he must have a death wish. He may think he's smarter than everyone. But he already had Castle, Beckett & Ryan with personal reasons to go after him. Now he's added Espo & Lanie. Plus he's infiltrated the 12th and orchestrated the theft of the files, on top of messing with her "family", so Gates has a personal stake in ending his run too.
