Great job of pulling all the responses together in one place. Thank you. I voted in the survey too and was not al all surprised to see 90% of the people have said they wouldn't continue to watch. I know that Molly is beyond loyal to Nathan so I'm not surprised by her comments. Jon also tweeted something about working hard to make a great show if it's continued and then his hashtag was #400 jobs. I get that actors need and want to stay gainfully employed but I just think ABC has their heads in the sand if they think the show can maintain the same audience without Beckett. If they choose to continue in some form, that show will have to earn its own audience because the vast majority of the original Castle fandom will be long gone.

Let me say that I've been a fan of Nathan Fillion's since Firefly and I will watch him in any future projects, but I will not watch Castle for years to come or even one more episode without Beckett. His response made my stomach queasy.
Molly's response only made me roll my eyes. From what I can see she is much closer to Nathan than Stana and the new version would probably have more of a role for her. Maybe I'm being harsh but Molly seems to be looking out for Molly.

Nathan is in a no-win situation herE honestly. I think it would not have mattered what was said in his statement, he would be criticized. I thought it was just an ok statement myself. Not bad but not great.
This disaster has put everyone in a terrible position, not just Nathan, and unfortunately he seems to be getting the brunt of the blame on other sites. I'm so glad for this place where everyone is respectful of the cast and crew, no matter their personal feelings on things as they stand.

Molly is most definitely looking out for herself (as well she should) Though i do feel they were poorly timed, I have read her comments on twitter and other than the first one I get the feeling they were more for the benefit of the ABC execs so she can be seen as a team player in case she's ever up for a role there again than anything else on ABC. As the youngest member of the cast she is the least likely to land on her feet after this and wants to rock the boat with TPTB as little as possible. She's looking out for her future, I may not agree with her second two comments, but I do understand them. We can afford to wring our hands and shout "Injusice" but this is her livelihood and she can't afford to be seen as less than a team player. |

And if you think she still isn't his muse after marriage, or shouldn't be, you are mistaken. I hate how they've played them in marriage, the writing stinks. The showrunners are clueless. So much for my being respectful, huh?
Kate STILL has great potential. CASKETT still has great potential. The writing... What the hell happened? Why does ABC think this is wise? What happened to Nathan saying he wanted to end on a graceful note? How can Castle go on without Kate? And why would he, ABC or the fans want to? Can you seriously tell me the majority of the fans tune in for the COTW?
I don't know. This all nauseates me. And I'm sorry, I like Susan and Molly, but Castle and Beckett are married. Castle doesn't need his daughter or mother on screen. Let's keep KAte and Lanie and be about business as usual. Alexis goes off to school, gets married, I don't care... Martha finds a new man, moves out, becomes a big theater hit. Boom. Financials for the network resolved, no? No, I know nothing about TV, but due to budget constraints? REALLY? This is how you're playing it ABC? Geez.
My cousin texted me last night after watching. This is what she said:
"Ugh, are you enjoying Castle? What the heck? If they're not going to have them on screen together,what's the point. Boo. She's leaving too. How's that gonna work? It's like Corn Flakes without the milk. No good. Ugh!!!!!!!!"
Another friend texted and said, "Castle? What the hell?"
Another friend emailed this morning: "What's going on with Castle. It's sucked this season!"
Huh. Ya think..... smh.....
I've been told I'm always positive. But this....challenging me to the hilt..... enough to make a grown man cry.
Thankful for the good times we've had, and sticking by our beloved couple. No regrets. This TV show has brought me more friends, blessings and real life love than I could've ever hoped or imagined. For that.... CASTLE will be a great love.

I so wish we could know the whole truth and nothing but the truth so that all the rumors would be put to rest. I don't think there was any truth to the rumors about them not getting along, but who knows anymore. What is "budgetary reasons" code for? I'm just so sad.

Those rumors have been around for a long while. I don't believe they are friends because they never interact off screen. However, whatever their feelings I think they try to stay professional at work. Countless guest stars have talked about what a wonderful place it is to work. If there was animosity on set I don't think we would hear so many glowing reports. We may get more insight when Castle is over and people feel more free to talk about what went on, if anything. |
