I felt the same as you did Christine. Haley is being pushed front and center and apparently this is the direction they will be taking in the future. The Haley character is ok in small parts but I am done with the show when this season ends. This is at least the second episode she has basically been the lead and I am sick of it. I think it is the Castle fans who were backstabbed today.

It took Beckett years to become real family and we hardly see her with Alexis or Martha but Hayley comes along and we're meant to believe they are instant family. Nope. Not buying it.
If this is a preview of Castle season 9 then I have absolutely no interest.

As you know I didn't watch the episode. I will at some point but not for awhile. It sure sounds like they are going to make Haley the next partner for Castle. ABC and the show runners obviously have no idea what made this show so amazing. Very sad...

I pretty much agree with your review. This episode really seemed like a spin off one, and it just didn't feel right. Even when Ryan and Espo were on, it still felt like they were in "the background". Castle and Haley taking the lead in a murder investigation? This show has taken liberties through the years but this takes the cake. I also don't buy Haley as family.....I remember saying after GDS, how uncomfortable I felt with Haley liking Castle and Alexis. This just validates that. I've always felt that Alexis tolerated Kate but couldn't form a relationship. The only scene Inreally liked was the end with the bike. When Rick said she should take a trip, I thought this was how they were going to write her out. This last scene did feel like Castle again. Don't know how you're going to last 4 more episodes, Christine! Keep up the good reviews!

Kudos, Christine, for your review....so sad that you HAVE to continue watching this show because it's part of your job....but you have this site and your "family" here and hopefully we can find a way to move on here in some manner...

Absolutely! No matter what happens with the show, I plan to keep PFJ open. We're actually talking about that behind the scenes right now and will be sharing our thoughts with everyone soon.

You called it right, Christine. I know we are all adults here and it is ridiculous to feel sad about a TV show but I don't care and I am incredibly sad today. For almost 6 full seasons, I felt this was the BEST show I had ever seen. The chemistry and magic was off the charts. I could not wait for CASTLE to come into my home each week. My family and friends teased me about my devotion but it was my "drug" of choice. Withdrawal will be hard and life moves on but I am just plain sad right now. I believe the show failed for 3 reasons: 1. S6E23- Marlowes fault. They were averaging 10+ million viewers a week and Marlowe pulled the rug out from under the most devoted fans on TV. The biggest mistake of all. 2. Fillion and Katic for not keeping it professional and just doing their jobs. They turned it into another Moonlighting fiasco with their bickering. I know it's childish but I don't care what they do the rest of their professional careers. Stana is just another pretty face in an ocean of them and Fillion can be Mal Reynolds. Nuf said. 3. ABC never appreciated what they had in CASTLE and never promoted it properly. How stupid was that?? Okay, I'm done. This was JMO and like everyone else here, I am entitled to my feelings. On the upside, I am thankful for the few friends I have made here, and the wonderful community APFJ is.

Yay! I may not talk much, and have the worse writers block ever, but I love to read here and enjoy the people.

As sad as I was to read about Stana and the show, PFJ immediately popped into my mind with thoughts of how much I was going to miss it. It is my morning ritual, have my coffee and read the posts on PFJ. Thanks Christine for keeping the family together when all else is falling apart.
