A third place finish for Castle to open the season. We will have to see the demo numbers to know what that means. Castle had a 4.7 rating and 8 share. The new NBC show Blindspot ruled the night with a 7.1/12. NCIS LA was second with a 5.3/9.

I was afraid we would be in 3rd place after I saw Blindspot trending ahead of Castle in Twitter.

Early demo and viewer numbers are a bit better in that tied NCIS LA in the demo. Castle 1.2 demo and 7.09 million viewers. NCIS LA 1.2 demo and 8 million viewers. Blindspot was the big winner at 3.1 demo and 10 65 million viewers.

Just remember none of this means a whole lot at this stage. We have to see if the number holds. We have to see what happens with other ABC shows.

I just watched"Blindspot" the new NBC show. Wow what a thriller!! Glad we have a DVR so I can watch both. I don't see this show losing any viewers. It looks like they have some good writers for that show.

What is good for me is that the Canadian station CTV airs Blindspot an hour earlier than the NBC station. And the show that follows after Blindspot is Castle.

I guess I figured Blindspot would take the night but I was hoping for a closer second for Castle. The good news is that the numbers are very similar to last season and that would indicate we have a strong returning fan base. We'll see how the other ABC shows do.

Actually the demo was way down from last year (a 1.2 compared to a 2.2) but a lot of shows were down. It's hard to say how this will all play out.

I really hope that ABC steps up its Castle promos after seeing these ratings.
My personal opinion is that they need more Caskett centered promos. I don't see Castle P.I. or Alexis centered promos getting former viewers to tune back in. Just my two cents...

I'm not sure the majority would tune in to see a "family business" when it's Castle & Beckett that are the draw for most fans and casual viewers alike. Promotion department fail, if you ask me.

Totally agree PTVJ and Castlecat. They shot themselves in the foot last year with 6 x 23 and 7 x 1-2 and have never been able to recoup.
