I've fallen in love with the Cormoran Strike series. The author is listed as Robert Galbraith but that is just the pen name for JK Rowling. For some reason she chose not to write this murder mystery series under her own name.
There are two books in the series so far, "The Cuckoo's Calling" and "The Silkworm" with a third on the way. The books are very British and not quite what I expected but once I started reading I couldn't put them down.

Depending on what you are looking for and personal taste I recommend "The Beauty Trilogy" by A.N.Roquelaure ...(Anne Rice)
Very well done erotica. Not for everyone or the faint of heart. Check out amazon for sneak peek reading before bying.

I, too, enjoy Janet EVANOVITCH'S Stephanie PLUMB, most when PLUMB tries different, not-bounty-hunter jobs, of which I recall the dry cleaners; and I can still laugh out loud at Stephanie's efforts at Cluck in a Bucket!!!
I have often re-read my tween/teen/French major favorites, MRS. MIKE; GONE WITH THE WIND; AND THE LITTLE PRINCE!!!
I love the novels of Chaim POTOK, including THE CHOSEN; and the historical fiction of Susan HOWATCH, THE PENMARRIC STORY; and anything about the ROMANOV family, including NICHOLAS AND ALEXANDRA by Robert MASSIE!!!

Some recent ones I've really enjoyed, both in fantasy/ Sci fi and classic short stories/poems, are:
Fantasy/ Sci fi: The Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy- Just recently re-read this one and still really love it. The main character grows exponentially in the trilogy from a girl who doesn't think much of herself to a strong, young woman capable of ruling an empire.
The Throne of Glass series- so far three books have been published with more to go. I wasn't a fan of the first book but, eventually read the second where things got better. By the third I was hooked.
The Winner's Curse trilogy- Two published so far but, really good. It is listed as fantasy but, really there is not an ounce of magic or magical creatures in it and it's setting feels more like a Roman type world. Fair warning though the endings will leave you screaming for more and melancholy that you'll have to wait.
Starbound Trilogy- Again just two published so far with a third due out I believe this winter. Really good with each book following a different pairing and each book having a completely different tone but, still tying into an overall arc. The first is almost a survival tale while the second is like a Romeo and Juliet story set on a war torn planet.
The Lunar Chronicles- Three out at this point. Each better then the other, with the third vying for my favorite of the series so far. They are sci fi versions of various fairy tales, with each story tying to an overall story arc. The first is a Cinderella type story, second Red Riding Hood and the third is Rapunzel. The fourth if I understand correctly will be a Snow White retelling. There is also a short novella out now entitled Fairest which chronicles the backstory of what made the Evil Queen, the Evil Queen.
Classic short stories and poems: "Bartleby the Scrivener"- From Melville. A Dark Romantics take on humanity and the extent of our responsibilities to one another.
"The Minister's Black Veil" and "Young Goodman Brown"- because I have always enjoyed Hawthorne
"Crossing Brooklyn Ferry"- poem by Walt Whitman. Just loved the imagery and metaphors and how they worked to tie all of time together and all of man together.
