As many of us are longing for the good old days of Castle, I'm curious as to what's your favorite episode from Castle season 1.
In case you need a refresher, there were only 10 episodes from that first season:
101 - "Pilot" 102 - "Nanny McDead" 103 - "Hedge Fund Homeboys 104 - "Hell Hath No Fury" 105 - "A Chill Goes Through Her Veins" 106 - "Always Buy Retail" 107 - "Home Is Where the Heart Stops" 108 - "Ghosts" 109 - "Little Girl Lost" 110 - "A Death in the Family"
And to balance it out, what was your least favorite episode too?

I loved "Nanny McDead" because the Caskett chemistry was off the chart. You could really picture them as a couple in that episode and it was such fun. That's also where we learn that Rick basically raised Alexis and that Kate is a "one and done" type of girl. Don't even get me started on the mockery 623 made of that!
As for the least favorite, it's "Ghosts". I just never liked that episode very much.

And right. Least fave. I"m with Fossie. Ghosts.
Wish I cold get my OCD back. I don't even care to elaborate.
I"m somewhat tempted to re-watch all of Season 1. Maybe I will. After I get Christmas under control. Maybe it will help me get the feeling back again.
The chemistry in ALL of Season 1 was off the charts. Just Super-Wow!

107 has always been at the top of my favorites list. I loved the shooting range scene where we see that Castle may have some hidden talents. I we would see more of this Rick Castle. I also loved the Caskett dress up for the nice event. We need to see that again.

I have to go with #1 and #7 in Flowers for your Grave when she says "you have no idea" that to me was the show and I agree with everyone else episode #7 with Kate in the red dress and Rick in a tux great episode, least liked a Ghost, but I loved all of the episodes in the first season

I will always love Episode 1, "Flowers for Your Grave" that scene where they are going over Castle's fan letters and he reads Beckett and Beckett's reaction to that. That scene is what started my whole obsession with this show. My least favorite, I would agree with the majority - Episode 8, "Ghosts".

"Home is Where the Heart Stops" is one of my all time favorites. It's the first gift from Rick to Kate I believe and even Lanie is breathless. Also, it's the first time Martha treats Kate like her daughter-in-law even though it was somewhat of a bribe to find out where they were going, lol! Furthermore, to be Captain Obvious here, Beckett in that gown. Wow.
I actually liked "Ghosts" because of the 3 card games. We get to see the 12th precinct there in the beginning: Monty, Beckett, Javi, and Kevin - just missing Lanie. Also, even though Beckett and Castle tease each other a lot, we see in both the 1st and 2nd games, first with the 12th and the second game with the mayor, the judge, and Monty, neither Beckett nor Castle were willing to beat the other when they went head to head, leading to the funny private, last game and the several mention of strip poker that we finally get to see in "Law and Border" (6x21). Is that love, fondness, respect, friendship, or all of it?
I'm actually not crazy about "Hedge Fund Homeboys". Those kids irk me.

It's a three way tie between Always Buy Retail, Home is Where The Heart Stops and A Chill Runs through Her Veins Though "Pilot" Gets an honorable mention for that amazing scene where Castle cold reads Beckett.

I vote with castlekat, 107. I loved that episode, especially when Kate got "the" dress. I do not have a least favorite.

I have to say that my favorite is definitely Flowers For Your Grave. The back and forth between them and the way they challenged each other was delightful, and the "You have no idea" moment is, to this day, one of my top 5 from the whole series. I'd never seen such chemistry between 2 actors and I was gobsmacked from then on! I really can't say I have a least favorite because every episode had moments to treasure and milestones in their relationship growth.

I have just been rewatching season one and I have to agree Nathanfan they are all just so well written. Every episode bills on the characters stories. And yes that scene in the pilot the chemistry was amazing. You could see right there that Castle was in love already. In one interview Stana said that ABC thought they needed to pull back as it looked like they would be jumping into bed the next episode.

The pilot will probably always be one of my top 5 favorite episodes. There's just so much to love about it. Nanny McDead and Home is where the heart stops are also favs but I like Ghosts a lot better than the season finale, or the one with the little girl. Those would be my unfavs. Not that there aren't great moments in each of those, such as Castle texting Kate and Sorenson, Beckett shoving the bearclaw in Castle's mouth.... Least fav is the season finale. I just wish that season were longer! It's probably my favorite season over all with the bickering and snarkiness with each other. I just hate that we missed so much relationship development in the later episodes. Season 2 is my other fav. Those are the only seasons without the 'Marlowe Drop' between the season opener and the next with the slow warm up all season long to the big finish. I HATE that! That's been my one complaint about Marlowe as show runner. And, of course, both of those season were on the edge, 'do or die', produce fabulous episodes or get cancelled. No wonder they start so much better! Season 8, of course, is in a category all its own. Let's hope being closer to the edge will bring awesomeness this spring.
