I forgot to mention a real LOL moment last night. When we saw Perlmutter sporting a very full beard, I roared! Last November, when I attended the Castle Con in LA, I got to have lunch with all of the Castle guests. They took turns rotating to our tables and chatting for 10 minutes or so. When Arye Gross (Perlmutter) chatted with my table, he told us that he HATES to shave. In fact, he had a full beard then and he was lamenting the fact that he'd be filming Castle the following Monday and they'd surely make him shave. It looks like the new show runners are much more accommodating to his preferences. Thanks for sharing!

Since the beginning of this ridiculous arc I have never understood why we couldn't have them working together and trusting each other, even if they had to live separately, until Kate's obsession was resolved. We had the entire beginning of season 8 wasted on this madness. And now, we're back to the beginning. Just trust me, Kate....Castle has been pounding that into her head for years... what the heck was she thinking? Why, or why, can she not get this concept that of all people, more than Vikram, Castle is ALWAYS the one! Partners in life and love! Vikram makes me want to hurl. Haven't been able to stomach him since we "met' him, and he really ticked me off last night. Seriously. And I don't blame my beloved actors, the writers are not amusing, or entertaining me! Why not watch a different show? Because I'm being loyal to the end, but it doesn't mean I'm not still mad.
What I loved -- the scenes on the boat. Even though Rick & Kate had to divide and conquer (separate filming days to accommodate schedules again, I'm suspecting), it had the nuance of old times. Why do people think they have to fix things when they aren't broken? I've said it before on the epilogue threads... what was so wrong with this series continuing on with Season 8 just being about them trying to do life and solve crimes together with Kate being captain, and, if he must be a PI, with Castle being a PI? There was PLENTY they could do. I have absolutely NO experience as a writer, but do the writers lose sight of what it means to be a devoted fan? Do they watch this a fan, or do they just sit and wonder and ponder and pow-wow about what kind of "twist" they need to throw into our happy dance? I don't understand.
Loved Castle calling Kate out. He was so right, and it was about damn time! Another thing... will we ever not have Espo or Ryan NOT interrupt?!?!?! So old it's not funny.
The ending - contrived, forced, didn't sit right.
You guys, I used to be miss susie positive wearing my rose colored glasses. I'm sorry. I'm more negative than happy this season. That isn't like me. Even the parts I DO like are jaded by something surrounding it that I feel is ridiculous or not right. I know as viewers, it's not our show. We have the right to our opinions, with the choice to take it or move on. But seriously. I feel like my beloved show is a horse of a different color. I have glimpses of what used to be. The character progression has come to a halt. For everyone. We hardly see Lanie. Even when she's in an episode it hasn't been the same. I feel like some of the spice since she & Javi have finished being a couple has also affected the fun they interjected. We see Alexis, almost too much. Isn't she still in college? Why is she just hanging out at the PI office? I love Molly, but in episodes of late, I almost am starting to prefer Haley.
Sigh................ I'm rambling too, Tycho.
Over & out. I'll be back more often when I can be more positive.

I just read what glo and motown had to say and both of them referred to the separation as being over. I'm wondering if I missed something or misinterpreted something. I thought they left it that they'd do as Castle had mentioned earlier - maintain the separation cover but investigate together. What do people think? I wasn't really thinking about that; I just took it at face value based on the way the episode ended that they are back together. I wasn't real clear if that is the direction they will be pursuing going forward, but even if they do, as has been mentioned elsewhere, at least we and they will know that any separation is just a ruse until they solve this investigation. Which I can live with, as opposed to Castle being completely in the dark about why Kate left.

So...I just have one question for now...Was Kate begging Castle to take her back or just to work with her on the case? Is she home or working at a Strip Club? We all know by now that she can lie with a straight face, so who can trust what she says as the truth. I mean the way she barged in and took that coat off and threw it down, it appeared that she was coming home. Why would she assume that everything was as it was before? Lets hope that she doesn't make Page 6...with Vikram. That would be the most unkindest cut of all against Castle. Nice to see Progress, but she annoys me sometimes. I wasn't feeling warm and fuzzy as the credits rolled. I feel bad for Castle. What is the price you pay for happiness? Are we feeling Castle's pain? This isn't over yet.
SO...IS SHE HOME OR NOT?
If I was hearing correctly, she isn't coming home yet, at least not permanently. They are secretly back together, but continuing the facade of a separation as a cover for their now collective investigation of Lock-sat. Though I guess they will be checking in with each other more often.

I found much in MR. AND MRS. CASTLE to appreciate and celebrate and to make me smile and laugh!!! CASKETT are no longer separated, are together—in crime as in life--have talked and arrived at a place of Kate’s apology and Rick’s forgiveness if not, naturally, forgetting!!!
I loved the shipboard scenes, the LOVEBOAT and TITANIC feels, and CASKETT chat and faces during such discussions as possible ship/“fixer upper” purchase; first and second anniversaries; possible, future cruise; CASKETT steam; and Kate telling the irrepressible, bureaucratic, “bottom line” cruise director that victim Lara did not accidentally fall, center forehead, on a bullet!!! Having been lucky enough to tap dance as a first grader and in retirement, I especially smiled at Nathan’s/“Dave’s” wealthy guy’s, investigative, pulled groin tap routine—wonderfully played by Nathan!!! How lovely that the so talented Robert DUNCAN tweeted about the familiar look of the piano player in the bar/club!!!
RYSPOSITO were wonderful, too—in any setting on any set!!! I was happy to see PERLMUTTER and to not hear him be disdainfully rather than acerbically critical of CASTLE!!! I dare to say again, respecting episode goals and time constraints, please, more Tamala/Lanie!!!
Repetitive but true for me, I appreciate Christine ROUM’S writing; Jeff BLECKNER’S direction—editing, lighting, and cinematography—lovely and vital—and the work of the entire cast, crew, and team!!! Alfred SOLE and team and Luke REICHLE, as well as hair and makeup talents again excelled!!! Musician Robert DUNCAN never disappoints!!! There are so many more cast, crew, and team to be grateful for every episode!!! Thanks, too, to live tweeters and to interviewees!!! As we’ve read from Terence Paul WINTER and Alexi HAWLEY that no CASKETT baby is at this moment in their plans, I found it a fun touch, intentional or simply fashionable, that Kate wore a slightly empire top during much of MAMC!!!
I loved the Stana/Kate and Nathan/Rick flirting; sexual innuendo; love eye balls; Kate’s thank you to Rick, post their shipboard crime solving—and Molly/Alexis and Susan/Martha, “tears or cheers,” and Martha’s additional concerns about crossing a line and changing the PI business “money pit”!!!
I found the hacking scenes fun, suspenseful, and poignant—well, played, Stana, Nathan, Toks, and Sunkrish!!! I smiled at the contrast between Rick’s P.I. office and Kate’s and Vickram’s strip club venue!!! Suspicious or support?!—I see compassion, determination, and humor in Vickram—and loved Stana’s/Kate’s comic turn with the cash on the counter, which her shoving it at Vickram, he found “oddly validating”!!! Likewise, I saw in this and in other episodes, Hayley’s/Tok’s compassion for Rick, Kate, and CASKETT—certainly, during the hacking, CASKETT’S comically, vulnerably, and with love and protection as motives, challenging one another—Hayley’s “second thoughts?” and “blinkey boxes?” wonderfully delivered—as were Stana’s/Nathan’s CASKETT’S every utterance and expression here, too!!!
Marvelous to me: Rick’s predictions about and Kate’s interviewing the three, shipboard retired “Marthas”!!! Excellent, Stana/Kate as Bad-ass BECKETT—intensity; takedowns!!! RYSPOSITO, excellent work!!! Sorry that the LokSat lead is dead!!! I found that Toks/Hayley and Sunkrish/Vickram have played their parts well; and what is to come with public defender, Kris/Caleb?!
I found the CASKETT, hacking, precinct, and loft scenes lovely, loving, hurt, apologetic, --genuine—even “organic” and reflective of the flawed but striving characters, as I, IMHO, see them—marvelously acted!!! Kate will continue to work on how she handles, obsesses over, and reacts to things and to be honest in her relationship with CASTLE, which I feel, that she has, acknowledged upon her leaving and throughout this separation arc—and that she truly believed that she was protecting Rick and loved ones and never wanted to hurt Rick—yes, acknowledged—regretted--she will work to better suit actions to her words!!! I find so vital that, due to their characters’ backgrounds, both Kate and Rick, understandably, have long time and deep seated abandonment issues!!! Rick had upon her leaving, lovingly and maturely, stressed that they are together, married, and need to work together!!! How relatable to be vulnerable, strong, flawed, striving?!
IMHO, I have neither found Rick to be a doormat nor Kate to be selfish but have found him to be a strong, loving, optimistic, unselfish man and her, despite being traumatized very young, having crusaded, withdrawn, and attempted alone to solve problems—to also be strong, loving, hopeful, and caring!!! What was said and not said, to me, is summed up: “I’d walk into a tornado for you.” “I’d die if I lost you.”
I think that Lucy has been used well!!! Rick, drinking, even his incredibly fine whiskey, remains lonely and “in love”!!! I loved such details as Kate, biting her lip, but a bit differently, before CASKETT’S departure for the bedroom, Rick’s leading her, reminiscent for me, of CASKETT’S walk from house to pool in MURDER HE WROTE!!! As some had hinted, I found a bit of an ALWAYS vibe!!!
Also, IMHO, I don’t equate either Kate’s or Rick’s flaws, lack of continual, “forward,” relationship progress with character weaknesses, lack of reality, or poor writing!!! I appreciated the callback to SLAUGHTER’S Kate’s not doing this alone and Rick’s statement that he’d not, as P.I., anticipated following his own wife!!! I applauded their declarations of feelings, motivations—and Kate’s apology, along with Rick’s telling her that she must make changes that only she can make!!! He, I believe, still sees her as extraordinary, not giving up or backing down, the best at her job!!! The tears in Rick’s/Nathan’s eyes and the expressions on Stana’s/Kate’s face—as ever, spot on, layered and nuanced acting to perfection!!! IMHO, both Kate and Rick, and their marriage are works in progress; I’m fine, with not, at this time, needing more on screen conversation and effort—both, often implied, and some more, I think, despite TV show time restraints, will likely appear on screen!!! I’m grateful that we at PTVJ have and can share and reflect on our similar and different feelings about our show!!! I’ve quoted and attempted to cite two, fan opinions, which IMHO, I also find beautifully expressed: castle-41319 – #ugh this makes me feel things #their love makes them who they are #makes the masks they wear slip away #he’s so serious and grounded and everything he’s not on the outside #she’s light and joyful and everything she’s shoved down for so long #they are more perfect for each other than I think anyone ever realized (via berkieryan) AND aspenmusingrebloggedthebeatgoeson29 walkingfairytalegoodlord – Yes. I’m reblogging it twice. You know, when I first saw this ending I thought it was lame. Even while I knew on some level that this ending is the definition of true love, I wanted Beckett to grovel less and Castle to be less forgiving. But the truth is, this really is the definition of unconditional love. The kind of love everyone deserves. Being able to fully admit to the other person that you f*cked up even if your intentions were noble and wanting and actually working towards doing better. Loving and accepting the other person for who they are while trying to inspire positive change in them and forgiving them when they mess up. All of this shows growth. They’ve evolved passed the petty blame-placing, anger and defensiveness. They’ve realized that they’re just two people who love each other more than life itself who are doing the best to express that love to each other however they can. They’ve reached a level of vulnerability with each other which wasn’t there before. Where Beckett’s jaw doesn’t lock when she’s trying to express that she’s sorry, where Castle doesn’t even get really angry about the hurt Kate has caused but instead feels sad that she thought she needed to put the both of them through it. And where Castle forgives mistakes with a loving heart. They’ve reached a place where they’re not afraid to communicate their feelings, dreams and fantasies for fear of being judged, a place of deeper trust. And it’s just amazing to watch. What I love most about this moment, though, is that Castle made good on his promise to never give up on them, to never lose hope for them.
