I thought during the hiatus it would be fun to hear from people about how they became fans of Castle. Some people have been fans from the pilot. Others started later and were able to binge watch to catch up. If you are like me I have never followed a show and been this invested in the characters.
For me it all started at a book signing with Stephen Cannell. He was talking about this new show that he was going to be guest starring with other real authors. He said he was impressed with the writing and the great characters in this show. He said it reminded him of his writing on his shows. Well after such a recommendation I had to give this show a look. I have been a fan ever since.
It it was nice that I was able to tell Andrew and Terri , in person at the last Castle Con ,what Stephen said about their show. Andrew had a big smile and said "he said that about Castle"?
Ok now let's hear from you.

I started watching around the season two, two parter. My Mom had just recently started watching it and kept talking about it so I decided to give it a shot. I had been curious about the show around the time it first premiered but, never actually caught the premier and then completely forgot about it until, my Mom had brought it back up. I started visiting the message boards, however, only after the Season three finale and have been a full on Castle fan ever since.

They had me hooked with the first episode. After the season, I checked out the ABC board and that is how I got into the whole board thing. I NEVER had been so invested in a TV show before. CASTLE was the best show I had ever seen.

Hooked from first episode. Was flipping channels because CSI Miami was a rerun - never switched back.

A friend/neighbor had lived in CA and had known Will BEALL (Actually, pronounced BELL!!!) and his mother/family!!! My friend recommended CASTLE, as Will was one of the writers!!!
"They had me" from the beginning--the banter, love/challenges, fun and tears, lovely writing, variety, will they/won't they, and the respect for crime victims, the difficult work of law enforcement and the military, and for family in many guises!!! When BECKETT said, "Detective BECKETT, NYPD," and CASTLE said, "Rick CASTLE, just NY," I was totally devoted!!!
When I discovered via message board and CASTLE friendships, how much I was missing, EG, Mr. SMITH, dressed as a physician in Kate's hospital corridor; callbacks; and foreshadowing, including Rick knocking over a mannequin with a black blotch on her chest in 3x01 A DEADLY AFFAIR, I knew how much I needed added, fellow fans!!! Add to that, the, as my mother would have said, "a sweet story," the wit and warmth, the CASKETT chemistry, the family--Martha and Alexis and Jim; and RYSPOSITO, Lanie, Captains at the 12th, Jenny....!!! I love and appreciate the awesome creator/show-runners, writing, acting, directing, cinematography, music, editing, lighting, set and wardrobe and makeup--what a team, crew, and cast!!!
What's not to love about CASTLE language: "Always," coffee, ice cubes, apples, and such quotes as, "If you don't believe in even the possibility of magic, you'll never ever find it,"....!!! As my adult children say, "Mom first 'spoke' and 'applied' GOLDEN GIRLS, then, many works of Dame Judi DENCH--and now, CASTLE has been added!!!" How is that not a richer world?! (:>)

I saw one of the first episodes in 2009. But I was or am not a series-fan. I rather liked good movies. And I didn't like detectives with a lot of murders… and I had no time for them. A couple of months later I saw another episode, and that hooked me. I think it was "A Chill Goes Through Her Veins" I saw that Castle was a very good concept with a mix of angst and fun. Since then I am a faithful fan. I read all the reviews and some fan sites. I have most of the dvd boxes and the other episodes on DVR or computer. So here I am a rookie, but I am a faithful watcher. But am not a fan-atic. Castle is not real life.

I started in the first season , first episode was a Chill runs through your veins, loved both characters Beckett, and Castled, loved the rest of the cast remember seeing Susan Sullivan in Falcon Crest and even before in a soap opera in the 1960's Another World, and Nathan in One Life to Live, always like both of them. Since I never saw the first episode, and then the series came out on DVD I could not wait to see the first episode, I now have every season on DVD and love the show....

Fan from day one, episode one. Had seen a commercial and thought it looked like a good show. Reminded me of shows that I loved - Remington Steele, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Nick and Nora Charles from The Thin Man series. Didn't find fan sites until about season 3, I think. It is, honestly, the only TV show I watch.

Mid season 4 during the hiatus.
Watched a repeat of Killshot after landing on it by chance.
I have held EVERY episode of Castle I have seen to that bar. Many have come up wanting.

My youngest daughter kept suggesting I watch it. Told me I'd love it,and she was right. Started watching late season 2. Watched what I had missed on YouTube over a week and after that Castle has been my Monday night staple.

Had always hoped to be able to meet him someday. It's great to know he thought so highly of Castle.

Hi everyone
Tycho, thanks for starting this topic. Wow what a way to be introduced to a series, lucky you!
In the UK it doesn't seem to matter what channel has the series, there has always been advertising so that you know the series in being shown. Now that it is on Alibi 'the home of crime drama' we also have a series shown without the breaks that you have in the US.
So I saw the trailers and decided to give it a go. It had me at Rick's "I'd be happy to let you spank me!" and Kate's reply. However I was hooked when I glimpsed for the first time what Stana could convey with her expression. That despite her smile to know that Rick had hit a nerve when he told her why she was a cop and instead of Rick boasting how good he was, he broke eye contact and backed off completely. To me it said that there was more to these characters than the banter that had already taken place.

I was watching DWTS and saw the promos for the new show, Castle. It looked quirky and fun so I made it a point to catch the first episode. I thoroughly enjoyed it but the moment that REALLY hooked me was when Stana delivered the now-classic line, "You have no idea." I've never missed an episode since it started!

Rob Bowman said at a panel that this was the scene that told him he had the right actress for the part. He said Stana was gorgeous but when she did that scene he knew he also had found an amazing actress and they were going to go far with this character.

I always tell my husband my Castle obsession is all his fault.
Never heard of Castle or saw anything about it until one night when my husband said he had a show he wanted me to watch. He was a fan of Nathan's from Firefly, and had found this new series, and he particularly wanted me to see the Vampire Weekend episode because of the space cowboy costume. So I watched it, and thought it was a pretty good show. We didn't watch it regularly, just caught it when we could. I happened to see some of the online stuff after Knockout, and about Kate getting shot, and Castle's ILY. At that point I was quite intrigued and started searching for online sites, and after watching the episode I was hooked. I must have watched those last 2 minutes of Knockout a thousand times that summer, along with binge-watching the first 3 seasons. I found the ABC boards, which was my first experience at getting involved in an online community. Went from ABC to the 12th, and met a great group of people. And now I'm here, with another great group of people.
