Rick leaving for the Hamptons with Gina instead of Kate did not ruin the show.
Kate dating Josh through season 3 did not ruin the show.
Kate's lie and Rick's secret did not ruin the show
Eric Vaughn and the DC arc did not ruin the show.
The Alexis/Pi story arc did not ruin the show.
The season 6 finale and Castle's banishment from the precinct in season 7 did not ruin the show.
Alexis having a subplot where she helps her dad with his PI business will not destroy Caskett or ruin the show either. I'm not saying our trust should be blind, but would it really hurt to have just a little bit of faith that things will unfold the way they should?
It seems like we cycle through this doom and gloom "the sky is falling" thing every year... And every year the show perseveres, the sky does not fall, Caskett is not ruined and we find something to like and enjoy about the season. Even season 7.
Can we just once not do it this year?
Please?

I can guarantee you, SB, that should an acorn fall on my head, I will not call out doom and gloom for our show...I'll probably be in the hospital. We have massive oak trees and till I moved here I never thought an acorn could grow so large!
As a matter of fact, one large oak became firewood and kindling when it dropped an acorn on my lovely bride a few years ago. You do not mess with her when she's gardening, even if you're a tree, especially when the acorn left a large bruise on her shoulder.
I guess this post was made because of the negativity you mentioned on Twitter and Tumbler? Hmmm, I think that's another reason to keep this board as my only means of social media.

It seems to be finding its way here too. I wish it wouldn't. I wish we could all just take a big woosah cleansing breath read or write some fanfic and at least try to approach season 8 with an open mind Just this once.

By and large, people resist change but fail to realize that change is necessary. I think without the drama, Castle would become a boring show. I admit that too much drama is not good and I can only hope the writers will keep it to a minimum. Many fans want a full length movie out of a 43 minute show. It would be great to see and hear some of the discussions that we only have to imagine happened but realistically it would have to be a 2 hour show to get all the vital aspects in. I have watched Castle from S1 E1 and will continue to watch it till the screen goes black. In every episode there is always something good to take with you till the next one. Seeing it as it is and not what we want or hope to see is key to enjoying the show. I've been around a long time and I have learned to make lemonade out of lemons and yes, through the years I have made a lot of lemonade.

Oooh, I'm totally not thinking the sky is falling! I'm good. Just voicing my opinions, my concerns and I'm not afraid of change. It's good to just be able to share our thoughts, and appreciate not being virtually shamed when I share and it doesn't agree with others. Easy does it, Shutterbug. This is just many of us tossing concerns out there. After seven seasons of the ups & downs, I think we're all pretty aware of the track record. And it's a beautiful thing for us to share varying opinions and expectations. Most of us have not bailed on the show, nor do we intend to. And we all have our preferences where characters are concerned. Has nothing to do with how we feel about our amazing actors/cast/staff/etc. Each and every one of them, in the front lines and behind the scenes, is appreciated completely by me. Nothing I have said is me "freaking out". You haven't seen that side of me. Trust me.

I’m going to take a contrarian view. Gina showing up at the season 2 finale is upsetting when the season 2 premiere ended with an apology and started the cat and mouse game of Will They/Won’t They. Also, in hindsight, this was the “Be with Kate” bucket list season. Dr. Motorcycle Boy was a continuation of Will They/Won’t They. Kate’s lies in season 4 perpetuated the Will They/Won’t They. Rick’s secret was a fiasco in the early season 7, coming off the season 6 disastrous finale. We didn’t learn anything until the finale. Eric Vaughn was a bit of the taking Beckett down a notch that we saw in the season 6 finale. The DC arc looked promising but was boring. What it did was to make it very clear that the audience did not like separating Castle and Beckett. This lesson wasn’t learned because we saw it in the PI arc. The season 6 finale cost the show dearly and lead to staffing changes and an attempt to quickly bury that plot. So, yes, some folks will say the sky is falling and some have bailed on the show. Others would describe them as missteps. And yet others will say there’s nothing wrong here. But at the end of the day, it is just a TV show – it’s entertainment. And there’s a lot of folks here with different backgrounds and we all won’t agree on the direction that our entertainment is heading. And with the defunct ABC board, I expect and do hope to see more folks join to voice concerts or jubilations and the best we can hope for is a civilized discussion, review, or expression. And, yes, I will be one of the folks who from time to time will cry foul. Of course if I'm allowed to cry foul then you're allowed to say the sky isn't falling. There's plenty of room for all.

I am looking forward to this season as long as they continue it as an epic love story I am in it till the wheels fall off I think Hawley and Winter are smart enough not to mess with that. I want to enjoy this season. The first time I have been able to watch live all year. I want to believe again.

Nothing I have said is me "freaking out". You haven't seen that side of me. Trust me. Collectively speaking, perhaps we should be a little ashamed of ourselves. (And I don't leave myself out of this equation, trust me) We all say how much we love this show, the actors in it, the people who write it, the man who create it and I don't doubt that we do. But as soon as their figurative backs are turned during the summer hiatus we turn on them and criticize the upcoming season based on the smallest whiff of something we might not think we'll like. We let blind items from some guy not even connected to the show, or hints at a couple of subplots that give a little of the spotlight to another character and we start acting like they're gonna tear down the whole premise of the show without even waiting to see what they actually have in mind. I've been seeing it on Tumblr and Twitter all summer and I admit I am ashamed... of all of us.

Thank you Bug but for me I would say disappointed rather than ashamed. I am always amazed at the conclusions that fans draw from one little tidbit that they see or hear. Like most things that are not first hand facts, it multiplies till it becomes "they are ruining the show" and the season hasn't had it first showing. Human nature is a wondrous thing and I can't wait for the season to begin so we can all chime in with our yea's and nay's. My hope is that there will be more yea's and that we will all be civil about other opinions.

Hi everyone
Ok, so reading this topic I feel as if I missed something HUGE! Could someone please let me know what the negativity is with regards S8 please? As you may know, the UK is still making its way through S7. And I will admit that S7 is the first season since S1, E1 that I have not watched live, except for one episode and I wish I had not bothered. Now, I am getting worried as it is Saturday and I have yet to watch the last 2 episodes, Wrong Stuff and Kung Fu Hustle and Wednesday night is S7 Castle night.
And as long as Rick & Kate are on screen together at the same time in the same space, I'm watching for that amazing chemistry which still exists between them for me. I have no real interest in seeing more Alexis thank you. I can never have too much Martha though.
B.x

B.x Trust me, be glad you missed it. It's been going on almost since season 7 wrapped here in May and so much of it was stupid beyond words. Things were posted through most of the summer that people of conscience really should be ashamed of.

I'm not perfect, by any means but some of the stuff that's been going on this summer, people really should be ashamed of.
