I just watched the pilot for The Rookie.
I can't give away too much. The pilot I saw could still be further edited before it airs in the fall, so it's not an official copy for review. ABC has it marked as "For Informational Purposes."
I like Nathan, but knowing that this show was created, and the pilot episode written by, Alexi Hawley, the co-showrunner for the awful Castle season 8, I was a little hesitant.
Well The Rookie is a really good cop show! Perhaps Hawley just needs to stay away from writing romance.
I enjoyed Nathan, and the rest of the cast, a great deal. It reminds me of the ABC show, Rookie Blue, with a slightly different twist. I'm happy to recommend that everyone should check it out, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Hi everyone
PTVJ - Thanks for your opinion on The Rookie which sounds quite positive. I have always enjoyed your reviews of Castle and perhaps that is the way in which I will 'watch' The Rookie.
What I find interesting, and I only ever use imdb as a guide, is that they have Nathan somewhere in the middle of the cast list.

B I noticed that too, and it is odd. It may just be that the show is new and hasn't aired yet. They may reformat the page before the show airs. |

Sometimes they list the names in order of when they first appear? Do they show others before Nathan’s character?

I'm sure when the episode airs you will see Nathan's name on the screen first. I remember Susan's name always appeared 3rd on IMDb even if she wasn't in the episode. I wouldn't worry. Nathan is #1 on this show. |

I love this suggestion! I think the show could do well in the earlier time slot. It would be going up against NCIS, but that show is aging and there could be an opportunity there for new blood. And for completely selfish reasons, reviewing an earlier show means I won't be up until after midnight writing and posting my review on the website! |

I'd be fine with it in the opening slot or the closing slot but NOT the middle. It would be up against This Is Us and I dearly love that show!

I agree Nathanfan, NCIS may be winding down and have an opening for a ew show. This is Us is still gaining viewers and would be tough to go against for a. "Rookie" show  |
