Knockout was the first big step that they took on Castle. They shot the last scene with and without the ILY. They finally chose to put it in. This was also the last episode written by Will Beall. I really liked his writing. I couldn't decide on the puzzle for this so I will post two. Here is the imdb synopsis: Cop killer Hal Lockwood, whom Beckett visited unsuccessfully in jail for months hoping for a lead in her mother Johanna's closed murder case, is released by a faked order into the general population, where he slices rogue cop Gary McCallister's throat, then is helped by fake cops to escape. Beckett, his likely next target, receives warnings from her father, Montgomery and Castle. Much helped by Ryan and Esposito, the duo work out that there must be a police accomplice and/or mastermind controlling Chuck Ryker, the debt-ridden corrupt jailer who was found murdered at his home. - Written by KGF Vissers Kate Beckett's investigation into her mother's death is reactivated when Hal Lockwood - a professional hitman with knowledge of Beckett's mother's murder - stages a spectacular escape during a court hearing. As police launch a manhunt for Lockwood, Castle and the team uncover evidence of a deeper conspiracy involving a mysterious figure with law enforcement connections who is linked to both Lockwood's escape and the killing of Johanna Beckett. The search for Lockwood and the quest to identify his co-conspirator leads to a shocking and deadly conclusion. - Written by ABC Publicity Kate in the cross hairs www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=11f6b7c83174 When Castle says I love You Kate www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=092b7150c06d

There was so much passion in this episode! The stakes were so high, not only with Kate's life, but the effect on the whole team as they learned about Montgomery's involvement. I remember my heart breaking as Ryan and Espo took out their anger on each other in the alley. I need to watch both parts again because there were so many great scenes.
Nice puzzles! Thanks, Tycho.

This was one of my favorite, and possible my absolute favorite episode of the entire series. Castle dragging Kate of that hangar is one of the scenes I'll never forget. Although I suspected that we might lose Capt. Montgomery in that season finale, I never saw the twist coming with how he was involved in Johanna Beckett's murder, and Kate being shot at the end was a total shocker. The "I love you" was just the icing on the cake.
