Thanks, y'all! I actually start celebrating on the 1st of the month. Used to be the last month before school is out (ancient history), first month out of allergy season (resolved), and parties galore. Now, it's pretty quiet relatively speaking.
I discovered a long time ago that by making it a big deal, I'm able to pull folks together for a chance to be festive now that we're 5 months removed from Christmas and New Year parties. Mother's and my birthday are 2 days apart and always the 3rd week of May so we do ours and we grab all the moms and do the Mother's Day celebration a week after the official Sunday. Before we used to do them separately and this was just easier especially with rug rats running around and I'm told I don't get to be one anymore, lol!
Anyways, I spend the month forcing myself to go do something because I now have a tendency to be a homebody. Translated, I stopped by the sporting goods store and looked at ammo and hardware (hey, Glock has a single stack!), looked at watches (wife bought a G-Shock for work since I somehow shocked a dress watch to death), visited a computer store, picked up a bottle at a liquor store. Basically, I'm doing stuff out of my norm like spending $170 on a bottle of whiskey before going back to my routine. Next up: The Road Warrior tomorrow night - maybe.
This past Saturday was a pool party. Lots of eating and apple cider and swimming and horsing around with the kids. Finally got some sun. Annual eye exam and contacts means sunglasses and frolicking in the water. Woohoo!
Today I went to work but had a morning lower body workout for 30 min (high reps/45 sec rest) followed by a pint of Ben & Jerry yogurt. Work. Evening lower body heavy workout (4 sets of 6-8 reps with 3 min rest) for an hour followed by a gluten free cupcake. I'm even staying up late typing this. Such a rebel I am.
Why a 30 min and later a 60 min workout? Just easier on me. I just don't have the work capacity to go through a 90 min session with full intensity. Splitting it up allows me to focus better and recover better. Speaking of recovery, I better go to bed.
Until tomorrow detectives!
