I have loved Orca whales since I was a kid living near Puget Sound. "Granny" J2, was the oldest member of the "Southern Resident" orca pod families, that live in Puget Sound and the Salish Sea. The 3 pods of the Southern Resident pods, J, K & L eat only salmon. They usually are seen swimming around San Jan Island in the summer months. I was lucky enough to see "Granny" many times while on San Juan Island. They think she was 105 years old. They really don't know her age as she was already a mature female when they figured out how to identify the orcas. She hasn't been seen since early Oct. so they have now listed her as deceased. The southern residents are now down to 78. I fear the lack of salmon will continue to see their numbers drop. I had to post this tribute puzzle in her honor. www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=379ee881a27a
