Sorry I've dropped the ball on these episode reviews but let's get back to them.
Summary: A frozen female corpse discovered at a new construction site transforms a cold five-year-old missing persons case into a current homicide investigation.
-"A Chill Goes Through Her Veins" is the episode that first introduces the mythology of the murder of Johanna Beckett. -This is Beckett's first visit to the loft where she interrupts a game of laser tag and refers to the home as "the bat cave" -We learn Castle is a speed reader and spent "years stranded in the New York Public Library."
Some favorite quotes:
Castle: All right, so you and I are married. Beckett: We are not married. Castle: Relax, it's just pretend. Beckett: I don't wanna pretend. Castle: Scared you'll like it? Beckett: Okay. If we're married, I want a divorce.
Martha: How old are you? Castle: Old enough to afford top-of-the-line laser tag.
Castle: There's got to be an explanation. A story that makes everything make sense.
Beckett: I hate cops like him. Guys like him, things only make sense if they fit in a box. So they make them fit and murderers go free.
Beckett: My dad took her death hard. He's sober now, 5 years. So, this is for the life that I saved [indicates the watch] And...[pulls out a ring hanging from a necklace] this is for the life that I lost. So I guess your "Nikki Heat" has a backstory now, Castle. Castle: I don't know. I did kind of like the hooker-by-day-cop-by-night thing. But, uh, I guess a heavy emotional angle could work, too. Beckett: Well, don't bewilder your audiences with substance on my account, Castle.

There was so much wrapped up in each of these early episodes. I loved the"pot and pan" scene. Sure wish we could have seen where they would have taken us after season 7 if Andrew and Terri could have written what they envisioned for this couple.

I loved all the interactions between the characters in this episode. Between Beckett and Castle, especially when she's telling him about her dad; with Martha and Alexis; and the old lady and the guy in the apartment. That's what made this show great and entertaining to watch.

Season 8 was so dark and depressing. I have to think that if Andrew and Terri had stuck around it could have been a lot more fun and romantic.

I think MilMar proved they were incapable of writing romance for this couple. I'll admit that I would have written it differently and they certainly got off track around season 6, but I have to believe it would have been better than the dark, depressing, mess that Hawley and Winter made it in season 8.

PTVJ: All great quotes. I loved the banter between them in this episode. And the beginning of the Johanna Beckett murder storyline. I was surprised that Kate opened up that much to Castle so early on.
It was interesting to hear the commentary on this episode; both Stana and Nathan discussing how mesmerized they were by the actor who played the victim's father.
