I did finally get the book tonight. I am watching the Cubs game so I will start it tomorrow. I was going to read the credits in the back but they took them out? I wonder Andrew is still co-writing these or if they had last years show runners take over this too? I will have to see if I can tell. Oh, so sad. I had hoped that the credits would say something about Rick and Kate. Well, I guess the showrunners run the books too.... |

Has anyone read the new book? I'm on chapter 20. I would love to see others reaction to the new information that Nikki just discovered.

I was enjoying the mystery of it all. My above comment was to the ending of the book. I think I was sort of shocked when Nikki discovered what she did. It changed the dynamic of the entire narrative for the Heat series. Makes it interesting to say the least to see what happens next. |

I am a fast reader usually but I am trying to read slowly to stretch this out. now it makes me want to stop and not finish. I hope this is not going to be like the wedding ending... I haven't even begun to read the book...and considering all of the above comments I'm not sure I want to. I may wait and see what you all think of the ending before I dive in. The last Nikki Heat book ended so perfectly, I'm not sure I want to ruin it. l finally finished the book. I got lots of jobs done around the house today as I would read a chapter then do something else. my suggestion is to stop reading at chapter 33. Just skip 34. I heard there will be another book. I am wondering if it will be a Nikki Heat or a Derrick Storm book. This was an intriguing tale up to chapter 33. Anybody else want to comment about the book you can PM me. Spoilers below....... They use LokSat aviation. They have a Presidential election going on with the 3 candidates, "folksey Legs Kline, Friendly Lindsey Gardner & heartless Caleb Brown" (yeah the guy who shot Kate and Rick in the last episode) There is a real twist with her Mother's murder that will come back in the next book. Reading the last chapter makes me believe that Andrew did not have input into this book. His friend might have still been the ghost writer. Sent from my SM-N910V using proboards |

I was disappointed to see that the usual Acknowlegdments at the end of the book were not there this time. I always liked the funny comments and winks to the show that were included there. |

There is a cute reference to the show in Chapter 5 when Nikki is interviewing a witness. There is a reference to Castle the author Demming Cremations And yeah, I began to get a bad feeling about 2 or 3 pages from the end....and sadly I was right. I definitely think the new regime had a hand in this one. |
