This is the episode that Jewel Staite guest starred in. I'm looking forward to seeing her in a different kind of role. Please share your thoughts and comments after the show if you're watching.

I actually enjoyed this episode....maybe the third time this season I can say that. It had a lot of the feel of what we love about Castle....the team working together, Ryan and Espo, even a decent amount of Caskett time. Although the whole drug kingpin storyline felt like "ripped from the headlines" about Sean Penn and his meeting with that Mexican drug lord. I enjoyed the interactions with the team, the whole story with Ryan and his daughter's pre-school play, our favorite foursome working together....and how cute was that scene with Ryan, Sara Grace, and Espo. There were a couple of lines in the arrest scene that make me wonder if the writers or ABC or somebody is tone deaf. They write these lines, and then a few weeks later do what they did to Stana. Castle to the Jewell Staite character: "It was a Hollywood promise, not worth a damn" And that character's statement: "Do you have any idea how difficult it is as a woman to break into directing....." Among all the other articles that have been written about Stana's firing, there have been a few about the sexism in Hollywood. How interesting that they would inject a line along that topic and then turn around and fire the leading actress of the show. Overall, it was one of the better episodes this season.

Tonight's episode was full of surprises for me and it was an enjoyable time. It was nice to see Martha get a little more screen time and actually get to do some acting. I about did a spit take when she popped up out of the vic's bed and the guys presumed the worst. I enjoyed the reference back to her days as a life coach too. I'll never forget the Pea Pod Bond! It was also a total surprise and pleasure to finally see Jenny again, and the addition of Sarah Grace and (implied) Baby Javi was even more surprising! That whole "B" story line about Ryan taking over the preschool play was so well done IMO. Watching Kevin act out his vision and having Javi watch it all was really funny, but the best laugh was seeing Javi act it out in the precinct later. I do love that Ryan refers to his daughter as "SG." I was very curious about the role Jewel Staite would play and I was surprised that it was so little and deadly dull to my way of thinking. She was only in 2 scenes and there was absolutely no build up to her being the killer. Meh. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of scenes that had both Stana and Nathan in them. My favorite was the one in the precinct when all 4 of them were together and were building theory and I also loved seeing Castle and Kate interrogating together. It's been a LONG time since we've seen that! Ah, the good old days. The whole date night story line just didn't work for me. I didn't feel an ounce of chemistry between them tonight and thought the way Beckett tried to cover her tracks was just lame. I think it had possibilities because these two are famous for trying to one-up each other but it went nowhere IMO. The place I did really feel some connection was when Castle had been abducted by the drug lord. That whole scene involving him asking Castle to write his bio pic was a lot of fun, especially when he started talking Shakespeare as he pointed a gun at Castle. Having the box of notes show up at the loft at the end was a great way to put the finishing touches on the story line. Typey, typey! Now, if only there wasn't such a dark cloud and sense of impending doom hanging over everything ...........

I thought this was another good episode. There were several things that I have been wanting all season or longer. First it was so great to see Jenny and Sarah Grace, and Kevin had a bigger role as the stage dad. I loved that whole side story. It was like Castle used to be in the early years. I loved the way Castle and Beckett interacted at the loft this time. I have been so tired of the awkward kisses and talk of wild sex. I've always wanted to see them as a normal couple talking about date night, sitting around eating supper, doing normal things. Why has that been so difficult to do the whole time they have been together? This is a show that doesn't need the dark season long arcs that really go nowhere most of the season. They should stick to what they did best years ago which was character development backdropped by a decent COTW.

Overall, it was one of the better episodes this season.[/quote] This episode was written by one of the few women on the writing team. I thought that line was interesting, especially with what has happened to Stana.
