If fans are boycotting, they must not have Neilsen boxes. Early numbers for Castle are 1.1 in the demo and 6.35 million viewers. NCIS LA 1.2/7.78 and Blindspot 1.4/5.74.

I'm honestly not surprised that the ratings are steady. I think we need to realize that we - the passionate, highly invested and informed viewers - are a small minority of the viewing audience. There are millions of people who have a Monday night TV routine that includes Castle and they're sticking to it. Some may not know what we know and some might be disgruntled but they still maintain their same routine.

If those viewers do tune out, it will be because they don't like what they see in the season finale. So we may very well get the cliffhanger version and then a Castle season 9. I think I've made my peace with that. In my heart and mind, Castle ended with the season 7 finale. I'm pretending that everything that has followed is nothing more than really bad fanfiction.

I want it to tank also, and feel guilty about it, I will not feel guilty next year because I will not be watching....

I'm disappointed too, but I guess most people will stop watching only after season 8 ends. There were thousands of comments in Castle's facebook with people saying they won't watch Castle without Beckett and I guess people are enjoying the few last episodes left.

Looks like my protest isn't working. Maybe I will watch this week's episode this week. I may wait to watch last week's longer.
