I haven’t responded to my own question because it’s so darn hard! I love so many of these episode. To put it in perspective, when the season 1 DVDs first came out, I was pregnant, a week overdue, and stuck at home on the sofa. I watched them over and over.
-I love the scene where Castle reads Beckett over the fan letters in the Pilot. -There’s something about Castle watching through the doorway as Beckett tries to talk down the murderer in Nanny McDead that I love. -Beckett tells Castle about her mother’s murder in A Chill Goes Through Her Veins. -Always Buy Retail” -I’ve always loved how Castle encourages Alexis relationship with her mother, even though Meredith cheated on him and makes him crazy. I was also impressed with how concerned Castle was for Beckett’s safety when they were behind the counter and she was shooting at the bad guy. -Home Is Where the Heart Stops - That dress! And a great scene between Kate and Lanie.
But my favorite is Little Girl Lost
-The reasons the mother kidnaps her own child both astound me and oddly makes perfect sense; plus I think the little girl is adorable. -Martha shares her pea pod theory. -We find out Beckett waited in line to have Castle sign her book. -Ryan gets that purple tie from Jenny.
Plus some great quotes:
Beckett: Yeah, I know. You were not asking very loudly. Castle: I know. I'm like a Jedi like that.
Beckett: Oh, for God's sake. Why don't you both just drop your pants and get it over with? Castle: I'm game.
Beckett: Be careful, okay. Castle: Do I detect actual concern for my well-being? Beckett: Screw this up and I'll kill ya. Castle: That's more like it.
Castle: Hey. What are you doing up? Stressed about finals? Alexis: American Lit's today. I was having nightmares about Hester Prynne. Castle: Ah. The irony for you is *not* getting an "A" would cause you shame.
Castle: Yeah, he's like the male you. Yin needs Yang, not another Yin. Yin-Yang is harmony, Yin-Yin is... a name for a panda!

Oh, and my least favorite was "Ghosts". It's not necessarily a bad episode but it just didn't feel like it had the heart of all of the other installments in season 1.

Favorites are Home Is Where The Heart Stops, the Pilot and Always Buy Retail. Least favorite would probably be Hedgefund Homeboys.

Hi everyone
So to pick a favorite from this season is really tough because there is something to like in all of them. If I had to choose one, I would go for Flowers simply because it put everything in place that made this series what it was. The banter between Rick & Kate, seeing this fun loving, intelligent, well read guy who had the mayor on speed dial. A single parent with a teenager daughter and a fun loving mom. Kate the cop who was all about catching the criminals who seemed to have no life outside her job. And then THAT scene where the fun loving guy disappeared when he knew he had touched a nerve when he rose to the challenge to tell Kate why she was a cop. And the first time I saw what Stana was able to convey without words. Also without thinking Kate accepted Rick as a partner when she showed him without hesitation that she had found the letter.
I agree with PTVJ about Little Girl Lost which I guess I would say used to be my favorite of this season.
Nanny McDead still makes me wonder who the guy was that Kate may have thought about marrying and did she know someone who had been involved with a married man and it had ended badly for them. Love the opening when Rick is waving his rights and Kate wants to know if she can shoot him.
I would like to know why fans don't like Hedge Fund Homeboys.
I may be back to add further comments.
B.x
